Recommended cushions for C2 Model D seat?
Re: Recommended cushions for C2 Model D seat?
I've been rowing for well over a year now and am only recently running into problems on my Model B. My longest rows were 10km but I recently began rowing 15km. Sessions are lasting about 1:10. The last 2km are pretty painful as my butt reaches the end of its endurance. Can anyone recommend a good supplemental pad for the C2 Model B seat? Maybe something with cutouts for the SITS bones?

The model B seat was (still is, in my case) a great seat; right shape, just enough cushion. I could never figure out why they went to the hard, flat seat, other than to deal to a broader (in more ways than one) market. I use a pad on my model C, but on the few occasions I still row my B, I just sit down and row.
I would guess the thin C2 pad would be all you'd need or a yoga mat with the holes cut to match your sitz bones. I would think, however, that if the pain only starts an hour into it, it's more of your muscles being out of condition for longer sessions. If it was a seat comfort issue, it would show up much quicker and on every row.

Personally, I keep eyeing a new seat. Ones with holes in them. Most, if not all, of OTW seats have holes in them. The holes surprisingly make a big difference.

A couple of sheets of bubblewrap, folded over inside an old hand towel.
