Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
Have you upgraded your PM5 firmware to V25 or V159?
If not then the time to upgrade is now.

I have everything upgraded. After advice from C2 customer support I deleted “Metrownome app” and everything works perfectly. So be aware of that app

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
My last few times on the gym erg the connection has not dropped. Not sure what the difference is.
When was the last firmware released? Chances of getting a gym erg updated are pretty slim.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I had constant problems w/the Garmin HR strap not synching w/the PM5. Just stopped using it.
There's an ANT+ android app that I use to monitor my HR if I'm interested enough that works fine but obviously doesn't link the info w/my workout data. No big deal.

No problems after upgrading PM5 firmware to V159 (using Android/Galaxy S8 with either Polar H7 or Garmin vivosport).
Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
As I wrote before, my problems with disconnecting had stopped for a few rows, but then again diconnecting came back. It has stopped, hopefully for good, after I have updated my PM5 to V25beta.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I haven't had any problems for ages. I strongly doubt the gym ergs have been updated, doesn't seem like the ergData app has been updated for a while, so I suppose it was some iPhone/Bluetooth problem that was responsible and one of Apples many fixes may have sorted it. Hope it stays that way.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
Similar problems with me.
PM5 with current firmware, Garmin HR ANT + (connects and works reliably from the beginning until today) and ErgData on an Android (7.0).
At the beginning, PM5 and ErgData were found and ONE training session was easily synchronized.
Since then ErgData and PM5 have extreme connection problems. They find themselves now and then, but then break the connection after a few seconds again.
BT reset, ErgData cache cleared, reboot ... nothing helps sustainably.
I can't guess, whether the problem lies with ErgData, Android or PM5.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
Ditto here. On Android w Bluetooth connected ErgData to PM5 with firmware version 161 and an Adidas ANT+ HR monitor. Did the medium WOD with two 4000m pieces at increasing spm. Was nearly to the end when the app lost connection with the PM5 and now I have to enter the data manually into the logbook without the HR data. Very frustrating since it was a tough workout and I was interested in reviewing what was the most optimal spm.
Have updated the firmware to 163 now but am not confident it won't happen again since it seems to have been present for a couple years and multiple firmware versions didn't seem to fix it. I think I'm going to switch to cable connection for the phone instead of Bluetooth from now on, unless this forum tells me everyone is now fine after the firmware update.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I have the same issue and havenever got to the bottom of it, it was always hard to connect via bluetooth, but I could always get it to work, now whenever I use it, it connects and 5 secs later disconnects. only way I've found to get it to work is to repair and even then it takes a couple of attempts and sometimes refuses to work. Very frustrating. This is on Samsung S8, and PM5 with the latest firmware. Would be nice to get this resolved rather than spending 10 mins each time trying to make it work, and then giving up and relying on the more limited memory stick to record the session
Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I always go wired PM5 to S9+ ( and 7 before) 1.27£ on ebay there are one that fit the 9+ or use the adaptor that came with phone
I find that wireless did not always connect (or at gym to a different PM) and or drop out!!
I am using wireless phones too and a fenix

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
Thanks
Didn't realise that I would go wired, tried with standard USB printer cable and USB to USB-C adapter (often call OTG) into phone and works fine.
Also might have solved the wireless connection issue, by removing USB memory stick from the PM5, which I've found is a recommendation.
So far wireless in working if
USB stick removed
ERGdata started on phone
PM5 turned on
PM5 Wireless turned on
Hopefully will carry on working for me, and maybe work for others with the same issue

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I am having the exact same issues.
The only difference is that I am using an erg in my RowHouse gym. The gym management knows of my issues and has been very helpful in trying to find a solution. This includes swapping out ergs and reviewing internal connectivity. I also bought a new replacement heart monitor.
All to no avail.
Like you have experienced, there has been no pattern to the connection drops. Class size is irrelevant. In my opinion the problem is with ErgData.
I wish ErgData would upgrade/improve their app.

Re: PM5: Bluetooth & ANT Connection Drops
I only ever use Ergzone. Far better imo, with the ability to store your favourite sessions and have quite a lot of different options for metrics to display
51 HWT; 6' 4"; 1k= 3:09; 2k= 6:36; 5k= 17:19; 6k= 20:47; 10k= 35:46 30mins= 8,488m 60mins= 16,618m HM= 1:16.47; FM= 2:40:41; 50k= 3:16:09; 100k= 7:52:44; 12hrs = 153km
