Polar Heart Rate receiver

Post by VicGilb » December 8th, 2017, 7:29 am

I am 80 and need to keep a check on my heart rate when seeking a PB.

Recently my Heart Rate stopped showing on the PM3 Monitor. I changed the Polar Heart Rate Sensor H1, but still no HR showing. I checked on a bike in the gym and the chest transmitter was working OK. I assume therefore the failure is in the Polar Transmitter which I've had for about 10 years. Does it too have a battery that can be replaced, or do I need to buy a replacement?

Thanks

The Polar HR receiver is powered by the 3.5mm jack that connects to the PM3 / PM4.

There's usually a 3.5mm stereo extension cable between the PM3 / PM4 and the receiver.

Can't remember the length needed whether it's 3.0m (10ft) or 5.0m (15ft) or shorter.

Replace the cable and see what happens.
You could open the PM3 case and ensure the 3.5mm TRS socket is still properly connected to the circuit board.

The cable can be ordered from Concept2 directly ... in the US $5.00 + $8 shipping and handling, it's definitely longer than 3 feet probably 6 feet long.

Heartrate Cable Only
Part Number: 2420
This is the cable only part of the Polar Heart Rate Receiver. If you need both the receiver and cable, order part number 1862, Heart Rate Receiver for Polar Equipment. Compatible with PM2/PM2+/PM3/PM4 monitors. NOT compatible with the PM5 monitor. See more info

The OP is based in the UK.

A 2 metre stereo extension cable is likely available from Amazon and probably cheapest that way.

The probem only begin immediately after the machines were serviced by non Concept2 technicians. Could they have altered something?
Checked the cable it's OK. I'll try again on the three machines. Looks like a new receiver then

Only two of us in the Hwt division at BRIC 2017. Mike Hurley 82 set a new British Record.

Thanks for help
