Rest distance does not register during planned intervals

Post by Nstrider » September 28th, 2017, 11:30 pm

Why is it that the overall distance does not register in my logbook when I do planned interval training?
Only the "effective" training distance is registered and not the distance during the rest period.
Thank you in advance for anybody who can shed light on that issue.
If this is a "built in" problem :D, is there anyway of going around it!

This is usually user error when you set up your workout.

Got the same problem using RowPro. It seem to me that the problem could be related to the new version of Concept2 web site. Don't have this problem before when i download from RowPro.

RowPro has never counted the rest metres for me, because I normally chose "Stop" rest intervals and it sets up those on the monitor as a series of individual pieces. Can't remember offhand what happens if you choose one of the active rest options (but I think it was also ignoring the rest metres).

If I set up a proper interval session on the monitor without connecting RowPro, I normally get the rest metres counted. A recent session uploaded those to the logbook, so perhaps it was the setting choice that Citroen mentioned.

Sorry Citroen, there must be something I am not getting. Since my last post, I rowed a lot of programmed time intervals, distance intervals and variable intervals and not once did the rest distance get totalized.
As an exemple, I might row 4 pieces of 1 000 meters with 5 minutes rest in between ( typical Pete Plan workout) qnd the 3 500 meters of light rowing are not added to the total distance in the logbook.
Does anyone has a idea to where should I write a suggestion to have Concept 2 correct that way of counting the total meters of a training session ?

Reason is simple. Most people want the 4x1k recorded, with pace for that 4k only. Not including the 5 min extra.

If you want that, use variable intervals. 1 1k, 2 5min., 3 1k, 4 5 min again. Giving 7 intervals. 4 x a 1 k and 3 x a 5 min interval. Rest should be zero between those.

Doing this you get every meter, but no useable average pace.

The pm only records active intervals, not rest, so program that rest not as rest but as active interval also.

Thanks for the info HJS. as you said like most people , what I am looking for is the pace for the active part of the session, but in this era of sophisticated algorithm I tought it would have been possible to have both info i.e. pace and also total distance.
I'll settle for pace.

Don,t you have both? I have distance and pace per interval and overall. Which more info are you looking for?

Using ErgData you get Interval distance/time/pace along with rest distance/time and a totaled total distance/time.

If you go into the details of the session and look directly under the meters column of the intervals it indicates total meters rowed during rest periods (r/xxxx). If you have specified rest times, you can add the total rest time/meters as an additional workout.
