replacing the chain

Post by woodgeek » August 7th, 2017, 6:30 pm

I purchased a new chain for my Model B. I've been reading through the documentation for the Model B and there seems to be a specific procedure for everything but replacing the chain. This should be a pretty simple job but I don't want to screw it up. Anyone have any lessons learned or suggestions?
thanks B)

When you say you purchased a new chain for the Model B, are you referring to a chain that is installed inside a skewer assembly? That's what I always used to replace the chain on my Model B. You remove the chain from the handle, then remove the four screws that secure the older skewer inside the monorail. Pull the old skewer assembly out of the monorail and slide in the new one in, then secure it in place with the four screws. Then pull the chain at the front end and route it through the flywheel and secure it to the handle. I'm almost sure C2 has diagrams of this procedure in PDF format on their site.

Yes, I meant the chain that goes from the handle, around the sprocket and attached to the skewer. That helps a lot. Thanks! :D
