The bottom rollers aren't even close to touching the rail, maybe 1/8th of an inch or a little less? It doesn't seem like it can be anything but bad top rollers as they are the only thing touching the rail.aussieluke wrote:If a cloth wont work (just gets bunched up) maybe try a strip of paper or something - just anything to try and create a bit of tollerance between the bottom rollers and the rail
I'm sure if anything needs replacing they will send you new parts under warranty - take a video of the seat not rolling up and down freely too!

so you can lift the whole seat up / rock side to side with a mm (sorry, metric here) of play or so?psychoswim wrote:The bottom rollers aren't even close to touching the rail, maybe 1/8th of an inch or a little less? Yes. About 1-2 mm of play.aussieluke wrote:so you can lift the whole seat up / rock side to side with a mm (sorry, metric here) of play or so?psychoswim wrote:The bottom rollers aren't even close to touching the rail, maybe 1/8th of an inch or a little less? Latest reply from Concept 2:
"Thanks for the serial number of the rower. It sounds like the drag factor is in the acceptable range, so you should not worry about that. The tight seat however should get addresses. Could you please reply with your billing and shipping addresses so I can create a customer file and send you a replacement seat with all the rollers to install under warranty."
So looks like they think my drag factor is within the norm but the seat isn't.

Re: New Model D
Michelle, on the seat being too stiff or not - certainly something you do want to get sorted out if there is an issue - but I'm not sure the seat staying still (not rolling to down the monorail without a push) on a new machine is itself an indication that there's anything wrong - see for example this photo of a whole set of new machines used at BRIC last week where the seats weren't all at the front of the rails.

Re: New Model D
My seat automatically rolls back to the front of the mono rail when i get off. Unless thats just on model E and not D models. I know that the model E's mono rail is sloped to allow for this

Re: New Model D
Anth it may also just be that the machines at BRIC (and Michelle's) are brand new - from the Concept2 website here the solution to the problem of seat sticking does include this:
Rollers often wear rapidly at first until they conform to the shape of the monorail. If this is the case, your seat may feel tight and your monorail may need more frequent cleaning until this wearing process is complete.

Re: New Model D
The emails I have exchanged with the company don't seem to support the fact that it is normal for the seat to be so stiff even if new. Cleaning the rail did not change anything and there was barely any trace of wearing even after multiple uses so it doesn't look like it applies to my erg. Waiting for the new seat now.

Re: New Model D
Seems a strange one IMO. They should not need wearing in!! They cost a fortune new and should operate properly straight out of the box.
