USB drive just quit working-PM5 flashes yellow

My PM5 just quit working with the USB drive that it's been working with for months. I discovered this when I lost a row that should have been recorded to the USB drive, but simply disappeared (not in USB or PM5 memory). I haven't upgraded the PM5 firmware or Concept 2 Utility recently.
* PM5 Battery screen shows batteries are at 100%
* When I insert the USB drive, the light on the back of the PM5 flashes yellow, and the PM5 doesn't recognize that there is a USB drive.
* With the USB drive inserted into the PM5, if I press the PM5 button for Memory, then press the button for Menu, the USB icon appears briefly, but then disappears.

Any suggestions on how I get the PM5 to work with the USB drive again?

Get V22 of the firmware installed. Reformat your USB stick (or at least run check disk / fsck) and try again.

Although not an answer to your question today I discovered a free iOS/Android app by Concept2 called ErgData.

If you pair it with your PM5 and save your login to C2 Logbook site, you can sync PM5 - your phone and logbook right from the app which I think eliminates the need for USB. Would be nice to resolve your issue as well of course but maybe it can be considered as a backup plan.

It's worth noting that if you're using ErgData you should ideally have the latest firmware running on the PM5 as this fixes earlier issues around connectivity and reliability. Therefore it's still advisable to follow Citroen's advice and update the PM5 to version 22 in any case, and that will simultaneously ensure all the USB fixes are in place. Once done then it is indeed a handy backup plan to use both - I use ErgData almost all the time (you can purchase a phone mount from the shop) but I keep my old 2GB USB logbook stick in the kit just in case I need to grab my session from the PM5 (phone battery is dying, say).

Hi Citroen,

Checkdisk reported the USB drive was OK. Reformatted the USB drive, and the restored the Logbook backup using the C2 Utility, but the PM5 didn't recognize it. I finally deleted all the files off the USB drive, after which the PM5 recognized it and I could transfer my new workouts -> USB drive -> computer.

I couldn't get the new firmware until I updated the C2 Utility (the old C2 utility repeatedly timed out without downloading the firmware). So I updated the C2 Utility, and am 0about to update the firmware on the PM5. Hope all the bugs have been worked out. If I don't post anything more, you can assume everything is working well enough that I'm happy.
