What make you think the PM5 doesn't have ANT+?

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I know that ant + is on pm5 , but will garmin 920xt be able to
Recive data from pm5.
Is there any other way to upload my rowing to garmin connect.

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I sold my 920xt and bought 910xt because it could not sync pm5. 910xt, 310xt and some other models can connect to pm5. You may need to update the firmware. 920xt have ant+ but don't have ant+ Fe.
Only way to upload to garmin connect, is using the watch connected to pm5 while the workout.

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
That was bad news. I like my 920xt . So it will not possible to get ant fe on this watch, or is it possible to a software upgrade. if not i will sell this watch.
Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I don't know what the future will bring, but I guess the Ant+FE is a hardware installation, and not possible to get with a firmware update.
The PM5 also has a bluetooth smart, (not the same as bluetooth). I think this is just for HRM-belts. Garmin 920XT has bluetooth, but I don't think it has bluetooth smart.
I'm not very sure about this and I may take wrong.
Yes, I also liked the 920XT very much, and 910XT is a bit step backwards. I waited like 1-2 month before I got my 920XT, so I got very dissapointed when I could not pair it to PM5. I read that the 910, 310 and other garmin watches was compatible, so I think 920 also was.
I miss the bluetooth/wifi sync and to see who is calling. Not for training, but also when relaxing/driving and the phone is in the pocket. SMS didn't came up on the clock, but facebook messages did.

Ok. Dosent look good. Think i will sell my 920 if it cant conect to pm 5 in the future.
Any way, is it posible to save the rowing workout as a file and then upload it to Garmin Connect.

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I don't know but I Don't think it is easy to export a logfile to garmin connect. It must be converted and I think the c2 logfile only contains splits for time, heartrate so i doesn't contain all information you need to get the curces for heartrate and pace etc..
A better option is to use another clock that supports ant+fe

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
Afaik, Ant+ FE (and FE-C) should just be firmware updates and should be possible to implement by Garmin and other ANT+ members.
Problem is getting them to do it. I find it highly strange that they dropped the FE support in newer watches. I have an Fenix 3 with same problem, i cannot connect it to Fitness Equipment, which i find strange, why drop an function that older model had?

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I have made a prototype device based on a Raspberry PI, an ANT+ USB stick and a USB cable which connects to a Concept 2 PM USB interface and outputs ANT+ data as if it were bike power and speed sensors (gives speed, cadence and power). This means the 920 can read the data from the session and logs it all correctly (but as a bike ride). I'm using it at home with my PM4 but I think it would work with a PM3 or a PM5 and that with a battery it could be used in gyms too.
I did it out of stubbornness in being frustrated that my 920 was great for everything other than ANT+FE and it is working great for me but it's probably too much of a PITA for most people. Still I'm writing this in case others are keen on the idea as I think I can get something together that is a bit less of a prototype.

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
I have been looking all over trying to find a way to output PM info into something that my Garmin Edge 500 could pick up, even if that data is simulated as bike data (spm=cadence, watts=watts, etc.)
Would love to see anything that does that. I just want to analyze my workouts online!

Re: Concept 2 and garmin 920xt.
Eddie, I'd be keen on seeing how this is done. I had similar issues so wrote a VB file to save the data from my PM4 to my PC and convert it to a TCX for Garmin Connect. See here http://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=99574eddieparker27 wrote:I have made a prototype device based on a Raspberry PI, an ANT+ USB stick and a USB cable which connects to a Concept 2 PM USB interface and outputs ANT+ data as if it were bike power and speed sensors (gives speed, cadence and power). I'm guessing your idea is similar to the ergstick.com?

Do you tried it with Zwift.com ?I have made a prototype device based on a Raspberry PI, an ANT+ USB stick and a USB cable which connects to a Concept 2 PM USB interface and outputs ANT+ data as if it were bike power and speed sensors (gives speed, cadence and power).
I think simulating a bike with a rower is funny !

I have an EDGE 520 for its primary use .. cycling.[and also a Fenix3 for Triathlon/Trail purposes]Zach wrote:I have been looking all over trying to find a way to output PM info into something that my Garmin Edge 500 could pick up, even if that data is simulated as bike data (spm=cadence, watts=watts, etc.)

I will have soon a C2 with PM5 (next week ) for its primary use .. rowing
However The EDGE 520 has (apart of the standard ANT+) a Bluetooth smart interface [with ANT + FE-C protocol] the same as the PM5?! not The Fenix 3 (or 920XT with identical hardware)
I also have a BLED112 USB dongle for Bluetooth Smart (4.0) some PC Software able to deal with it.
I will try next week if the Edge 520 and the PM5 and BLED112 on PC Desktop at least see each other via BLE: this could pave the way to a nice indoor biking/rowing CIQ App!
