I updated the PM5 firmware to beta version 17 build 6 today. The information associated with this build states that it addresses some Android bluetooth connectivity issues for the ErgData app. Tried connecting to Nexus 4 phone. Same problem as before - the phone sees the PM5, tries to pair with it but can never actually complete the pairing. The phone is running Android 5.0.1. It effortlessly pairs with other bluetooth devices. I also re-attempted connecting the PM5 to the Garmin 'Premium' heart rate monitor (the one on the Concept2 web site). Same problem as before - the PM5 does not see the belt, ever. I have tried everything I can think of with this belt (read my previous posts on this thread). So updating to the latest firmware does not appear to fix any of the connectivity issues I'm experiencing. The information associated with the beta version 17 build 6 firmware also states that it fixes some USB stick issues. I was hoping that this might include the intermittent failure of the PM5 to log rows onto my USB stick (4GB SanDisk Cruzer Blade). Initial results are not promising - 1 row, 1 failed logging to the USB stick. Note that I had erased the USB stick using the Concept2 utility on my laptop prior to the test. Perhaps I could have tried reformatting the USB stick. But I've had enough disappointment for one day.

My iPhone 6+ (IOS 8.1.3) could never pair directly via bluetooth to my PM5 running firmware V17. But I've found that if I turn on iPhone's bluetooth first, then wireless/bluetooth on the PM5, upon launching the Ergdata app on the phone, it connects almost instantaneously to the PM5! Works every time. Maybe you can give it a try on your Nexus.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the same sequence of actions with the PM5, Nexus 4 and ErgData. Unfortunately, still no connection. Back to a hardwired USB connection with the Galaxy Nexus if I want to use ErgData.

I am having same issue with a PM5 retrofitted to a Model-C.

Garmin monitor belt HRM3-SS, ANT+ compatible. Brand new.

I have tried all of the tricks mentioned above. Currently PM5 is at Ver. 17, but I will see if there is a later Beta.

I did momentarily see the PM5 find the belt, (after many, many tries) and I hit PM5's "Confirm", where upon it instantly disappeared, never to reappear.

PM5 also gets a USB failure every 2nd or 3rd time I turn it on. I have to remove the USB stick and reinsert, and all is good. Obviously some stability issues with the PM5s.

Updated to f/w 18, and can now connect to my belt. Still takes a while for it to recognize, but much better than before.

(f/w 18 seems to have fixed my USB problems as well)

Hi,

I had the problem that I could not connect my Android phone and tablet to the PM5. Josh from C2 gave me the below sollution

Thanks for trying all those things out, but I am afraid it is not going to work for you right now. I was made aware this morning that Version 1.04 currently available in the Google Play App store is for PM3/4 only. There is a ‘beta’ version of ErgData available at /software.concept2.com/ErgData-Android/ErgData.apk if you want to get started right away, but we feel it best to wait for version 1.09 or higher to show up on the Google Play app store which should be soon.

Further, please note that the connection to the PM5:
- Requires firmware version 18 or above
- Connection should be made within the ErgData App itself,
- Customers attempting to connect to the PM5 through the phone’s “Settings”, “Bluetooth”, etc. may see a brief connection but then be disappointed.

First make sure Bluetooth is working and your phone is visible. Then open the Ergdata app (beta) on your phone. Choose for "Wireless on" on the PM5. If there is no prompted question about connecting to PM5 go in Ergdate on your phone to settings and choose for the option "Connect phone to PM via Bluetooth". Your PM5 will be shown and then choose connect.

Grtz and good luck.

Just bought a new concept2 with a pm5. Have upgraded to v19 on the pm5 and still no connection to my Samsung sg4 or other sg6 using Ergdata software. Does connect to iphone5 immediately. So why wouldn't it connect to Samsung? Anyone have any suggestions? Other than android vs apple??

I'm using a PM4 on a model E and had been using a Suunto ANT+ belt for some time. It was looking a bit ragged and occasionally not connecting. I replaced it with the (lower cost) Garmin belt which just didn't work. Changed batteries, tried contact gel etc and could not get consistent connection.

Eventually changed the batteries and started using the gel with the old Suunto belt and got it working again and it is providing consistent results as before.

With both I have usually have to re-establish the belt connection at the start of the workout.

I think some of the belt issue might be with Garmin tech in particular.
