Strange symbol on PM4, and ErgData not logging

I am using a PM4 on Model D/E with firmware 318, hardware version 331. When I connect my iPod running ErgData, I see a strange symbol on the PM4 display, like a disk with two "plus" signs above and to the left (see attached picture, sorry for the poor quality). Also, ErgData shows the workout while I am doing it, but then afterwards the log shows nothing. The other rower at the gym is firmware 316 and does not show this symbol, and ErgData logs the workout just fine (although the meters only count up not down). I looked at the manuals for the PM4 but don't see any description of this symbol. There is no log card in the PM4.

Does anyone know what this symbol is and why ErgData doesn't record the workout?

It's the ANT+ logo (wireless tech for exercise stuff, including the heart rate monitor strap for the C2). The icon was added in one of the firmware updates. I don't use ErgData so I can't help you with that, but I thought I'd take the easy part of the question.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, indeed, I have the latest version.

I have noticed that with this new version of ErgData, when it is used with a PM4 with an older firmware version (for example 316 rather than 318), the meters count only up not down. That is, if I set a workout of say 6000m, then the distance field counts up from zero rather than down from 6000 (while the PM4 display counts down). It works correctly on a PM4 with recent firmware. The previous version of ErgData correctly counted down rather than up on all monitors.

This is the first time that I have observed ErgData not logging a workout. The manual does say that if a log card is in the PM4 then it will display but not log, but that is not the case here.

Would the ANT symbol indicate connection to my heart rate strap, to ErgData through the cable, or something else? Perhaps the PM4 is connected to something that it believes is logging the workout.

To the heart rate strap. ANT+ devices specifically identify themselves, and as far as I can tell from tinkering with other Garmin devices, the PM4 doesn't connect to data-logging ANT+ devices - I think the heart rate strap is the only ANT+ device type that the unit supports. So no, it wouldn't interfere with the logging.
