Concept2 query

Post by DIYrower » October 25th, 2013, 9:33 pm

Hi, I am new here, I am from India.
No franchisee of concept2 here. So I decided to make one (no copy of Concept2)
I need to know some standards- (no paticular model)
1. what's the thickness of shock cord
2.a Height of chain from outlet to ground. 2.b. from seat roller rail top.
3. breadth from chain outlet to end of frame.
4. Seat height
5. horizontal frame dimensions.

Thanks

You have sellers over there of the Concept 2. The reality is its not worth trying to make one, in fact its not possible unless you have at least the monitor and a flywheel.

Thanks Carl

I was in contact with sales, what they say is "We have no official distributors in India but have people who have bought from us and resell on their own.
You could try contacting the following customer but we cannot guarantee they would have our Indoor Rowers in stock or charge a reasonable price.
CARDIO FITNESS INDIA PVT LTD, email................." I emailed them but no reply so far.

I have plan and some major required parts (blower, chain, frame tube) only need to confirm some standards. This will be quite different from Concept2 rowers and non folding one.
All I need is some input from you guys, which takes 5 minutes with measuring tape.

Thanks

Hey DIY,

On a model D the distance from the ground to the center of the flywheel is 24 1/2 inches. Equally important is the height of the seat, which is 14 3/4" above the ground at the center of travel (note the monorail is slightly sloped). Also the height of the foot stretcher, which places the ball of the foot at 12 1/4" above the ground.
Good luck with it! Post a picture when you're done. C2JonW

Frame built

Post by DIYrower » November 4th, 2013, 8:15 pm

Strong frame built. Very little flex only when I jump on it in middle :P
Disclaimer- I am building it for me. No sale or reproduction. Absolutely no comparing with Concept2. If anyone copy it, do it at your risk. Also this thread is meant for seeking some help. Thanks.

C2jonW, could you kindly confirm angle of foot board, is it 45 degree ? Also what is height of seat from frame top.

I built it

First DIY Indian Indoor Rower of its kind. May be first at all. :) for personal use. Storage vertically for space saving.
It is awesome, I am using it for two weeks now, so far I manage to workout for 15-20 minutes at a stretch.
I christened it "Trower", i.e. twin rower. It only lacks a PM, unfortunately which I can not import. :(
All parts hand crafted from leftover or household items except chain, axle, blower, sprocket, ball bearing.etc.

Wow, congrats; C2 should be trembling in their dhotis.
Some sort of electronics should be cookable by Indians too, there's no lack of expertise.

That's a good-looking machine! You could probably hook up a bicycle computer to give you distance and speed numbers. It would at least give you numbers that would allow you to track your work/improvement.
Add a heart rate monitor and you get most of what someone rowing casually for health needs.
