Anyone have a PM2 monitor to sell? I am looking to upgrade for my class B but I can't seem to find any, anywhere... Either they have shown their worth and are still working after 12 years, or hoarded...
Let me know!

Not to many good ones left I'm afraid with the last one being made in 2003. The last version, the Rev 2.3 with the gold plated contacts was the best one made.
Battery leakage has killed alot of them, otherwise they are very reliable and would still probably be working.
The PM3 which still can be used on the Model B is a better upgrade, especially as it can be conected to a PC and you can row online with RowPro, just don't put cheap batteries in one of these either because if they ever leak they will still kill it.

I have a PM2+ off my model C that I could sell, it's in perfect working condition. I bought the erg with a grand total of 305km use so it's like brand new. No corrosion or other issues with the monitor. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Do you still have your PM2+? What would you like for it? My PM2 just failed. Thanks Gary

Dead PM2 Monitor fixed!
I recently bought a used C2 model C with PM2 monitor. The monitor just died and upon inspection I found corrosion from leaked batteries. I took the monitor off the rower. Took the back off the monitor (had to lubricate the screws with a little WD40). Cleaned out all the corrosion I could find. (It looks just like the stuff that collects on your car battery terminals.) I used a spray electronics cleaner fluid similar to this : CRC 05101 QD Electronic Cleaner

Gently cleaning the goo out with Q tips and a toothpick, careful not to damage anything on the circuit board. Put it back together.
Worked like a charm; the monitor is as good as new.

You were lucky.
Battery leakage is normally the killer of old electronics.
I think you should buy a PM3 for the extra features anyway. Resurrecting ancient PM2s isn't normally that simple.

You're right, I'm lucky that I caught it before the damage was worse. But for anyone who's the least bit handy with electronics, It may be worth a try to clean the innards of your monitor and see if it comes back to life.
