PM4 Firmware Upgrade
PM4 Firmware Upgrade
Just did the firmware upgrade on my PM4. I seem to have lost the ability to switch the user by pushing a button. The only way I have found to switch the user is to pull the log card out and reinsert it. Even the log card utilities in the menu doesn't have an option to switch the user. Am I not seeing something in the menu to switch?

Re: PM4 Firmware Upgrade
What version did you upgrade to?
How many users are defined on your LogCard?

Same thing here. V317
Since upgrading, it doesn't seem to want to hang on to my HR monitor settings, even though I choose the option to save it to the log card each time. And finally, even after deleting workouts, it still says my log card is full. I finally had to reformat the card.

Switch user: Yes, this was removed to make room for the "Link" menu on the PM4 for ErgBuddy and others. You can remove/reinsert the card; or you can press the MENU button 4x to turn monitor off, then another time to turn back on to get the 'select user' choice.
Deleting workouts does NOT free up space until it is 'compacted'. Compaction can only be accomplished using the Concept2 Utility. After deleting workouts, use the Utility to "Read" the card, it should prompt you to 'rewrite' the card freeing up space. The Utility also has automated tools to 'remove all workouts prior to X date' which you might find useful.

If anyone would like to downgrade, please feel free to contact me via email and I will provide the needed firmware file.

Re: PM4 Firmware Upgrade
Thanks for the tips, Scott. Sorry about associating the full log card with the firmware upgrade. Both happened to take place at the same time, and I just assumed that deleting workouts alone would take care of the space issue.
Regarding the HR monitor, this morning it initially didn't detect it again, but I waited a minute before manually reassociating it, and finally the icons at the top of the monitor showed up and it recognized it. Could the battery in the chest strap be getting low? Should those icons show up right away when the monitor is turned on, or do they wait until they detect a signal?

Re: PM4 Firmware Upgrade
Could be. The icon operation is not 'perfect' and takes a little getting used to. However, operation in a rowing screen should operate as it used to. Remember the tips on our web page: Warmup for a while to get the contacts on the belt to work well, etc. The batteries last only so long of course, the manufacturer of your Suunto or Garmin belt can advise better on that; but if it were me I'd keep a spare battery on hand.
