brand new machine has a "dirty" monorail

Post by zazz » August 11th, 2011, 12:34 am

Im a newbie on this so im not sure whats to be expected but my new machine has two strips either side along the length of the monorail. The shiny finish is along the centre only. I guess the stips are from the rollers. When i tried to clean them off with soap or water or glass cleaner its not going away. Im guessing the shiny finish where the rails run has been worn off? Is this normal for a new machine?

It's normal for a machine that's been used for a several hundred thousand metres. I wouldn't expect a factory fresh model to have any wear on the monorail.

The aluminium strip on the top of the rail is a user replaceable part.

thanks... i suspect my machine might be a lightly used reboxed secondhand unit being sold as new. Just seems a little odd that concept2 would ever ship machines with monorail plates that werent mint. I will contact the dealer.
