Water Rower brand

Post by chudwell » January 14th, 2011, 5:20 pm

Hello,
I am a longtime fan and owner of C2 ergs. I tried my best to testify this to my friend, but he did some research and decided to go with a Water Rower.

How does the performance meter on a Water Rower compare to the equivalent rower on a C2 with a PM# performance monitor?

I did try to search on this first. "Water Rower" and "Waterrower" did not successfully find any answers for me.

thank you!

There are several rowers using the water resistance method.

Basically you cannot compare the results from one to that of a Concept 2. The Fluid one has a totally manual set-up between the drag and the setting on the monitor so it's not even "Self Calibrating" so it's pretty useless to compare the results from one of these to even another fluid.

Really it comes down to your intended use of the machine, if your happy to just use it for a workout the water machines are fine, however if you intend to get into some competition with it then there is only one machine to use.

I too considered the WaterRower. Aesthetically, it's the nicest looking machine available. It is also an interesting concept - spinning water in a round drum to simulate an on-the-water feel. I found though, for my liking, the inertial component was not high enough. There did not seem to be as long a "glide" as the C2 rower. Obviously, some people prefer this, but I think
WaterRower could be improved - possibly with a smaller water drum and a paddle wheel with more mass. I did like the softer feel at the catch though. It's a quality piece of equipment.

Personally, I'd go for the Fluid Rower as the resistance can be change without having to add water to the tank.
