I have a PM2 monitor that went dead while I was gone on vacation. I changed the batteries with known good ones and nothing. It wont power up at all.
I called the 800 number for technical support and was asked if there was any corrosion on the circuit board. When I told them that there was none they seemed shocked. They told me to disassemble and clean the board with Alcohol which I did but it is still DEAD !!
Just wondering if there is anything else I can try before I order a PM3 upgrade for my Model C?
The cirucit board had no apparent corrosion on it anywhere. Looks like a new board to me.

Re: PM2 Monitor
Yes I could fix it if you were in New Zealand !
The PM2's are a joy to work on, so simple compared to the PM3/4.
1. Check all 4 of the battery contacts are spotless, any rust or the slightest bit of stuff on them will stop it working. If you have a multimeter then with the rear cover off and batteries in it, check that +3V is actually getting to the board.
2. It's probably the LT1044 that generates the -3V required for the LCD display. You kind of need some experience in electronics from this point on. Do a search on this forum, there are other posts relating to faults already covered in detail.
Monitors are so cheap over there I would just buy a new PM3.

Re: PM2 Monitor
I have some electronic experience for about 30 years now so that isnt a problem. However I am not sure where on the board I should see 3v. Between what two points?
