Can erg's lifetime meters be set on a PM3?

I lost all the data by replacing the batteries.

I think with PM2 I could edit the device's lifetime meters. What about PM3?

Can't be done on the PM3, can be done for your personal lifetime metres on your logcard. Can't be done on a PM2 either.

If by "Edit" you mean "Reset" or do you mean just stored ?

The PM2 can store your life time metres regardless of the batteries going flat, however it can still be reset to zero with a 4 finger reset.

The PM3 with a logcard for some reason doesn't record the lifetime meters on the monitor itself which is a bit annoying, however with a firmware upgrade this would get reset to zero again anyway so in effect there is no reliable permanant record or ODO reading for the life of the erg if for example you were to buy one second hand and know exactly how much use it had had.

I remember I could see my PM2's lifetime meters, and yes, it's the kind of data one could post when selling it.

There's the logcard lifetime metres per user (as you said a sum of all metres logged on that card) and that's easy to edit.

There's the PM3 lifetime metres (on product ID page2) and that can be set to zero (sometimes with a firmware update and more reliably with the factory reset key presses). You can't increment that number except by sitting on the seat and pulling the chain (regardless of whether there's a logcard in or out). But since it can be reset to zero (and only counts for the monitor not the ergo the monitor is mounted on) it should be taken as a possible indicator of age not as gospel.

If you're buying a machine the state of the paintwork, the cleanliness/wear of the chain, the amount of dust/cruft in the fan cage, the scuffs and other marks are equally likely to show overall age.
