Greetings Ergers:
This morning I set up a Model D on slides (+ShoxBox) after having same in storage for about 1 year. Everything is working very nicely except for one thing: On each stroke, the erg moves forward with respect to the slides so that on every 3rd stroke or so, it bangs except the front end of the slide, the force of which pushes me back far enough to start the "cycle" of inching forward and banging the slide all over again. (I don't believe this was happening when I used the equipment before sending it off to storage. It is very annoying.)
How can I eliminate the inching forward and banging ?
TIA !!!
Eddie

Re: Slides 'a Bangin
Increase the tension of the bungees that pull it back. You might also check to see if it is level.Cayenne wrote:Greetings Ergers:

Another possibility is to use the Australian method of raising the extreme ends of the slides a bit with shims. I don't have a URL for that anymore and I don't remember just how thick the recommended shims were.

Several more items to investigate:
* Make sure there is proper separation between the front and rear slides. C2 can tell you what the optimum distance for the Model D erg is.
* Make sure the two slides are properly aligned length-wise (using a long stick or measuring tape) to prevent possible torque action in their play.
* Inspect the black plastic slide strips on which the slider's white rollers run (on both sides of each slide) to make sure they aren't cracked or othewise damaged, thereby preventing proper movement of the affected white rollers. A plastic slide strip on my rear slide suddently cracked down the miiddle, causing my erg to jump around like a bronco. Once I replaced it, everything was smooth again.

Hey there
Have a look under the Service tab of www.concept2.com, click on schematics and then go down to Slides. You'll see a document to help you with the correct set up.
