Lubricating Flywheel

Post by vsaksena » July 13th, 2010, 9:28 pm

Are there any instructions for lubricating the flywheel? My erg has now over 4K (km) and was interesting in lubing the flywheel as I hear it squeeks when it is coming to stop.

Here's a link that describes removing the flywheel. When you have the flywheel off you can place a light amount of chain oil or other light oil on the larger diameter area of the Flywheel Axle where the clutch mechanism runs. Note that the low speed squeak or chirp you are experiencing seems to be caused by a subtle interaction between the clutch rollers and the finish of the axle. It may go away after lubricating and it may come back over time. It has never proven to be an indicator of any problem with the clutch, axle or lubrication. C2JonW
