Model D with PM3 monitor not working
Model D with PM3 monitor not working
All of the functions for the monitor work fine, I can set up a workout and look up past rows. However, the monitor doesn't read the stroke. I use my erg fairly regularly and I changed the batteries, checked the wire to the monitor, and even opened the erg up (warranty expired) to see if something was wrong there, to no avail. Help would be much appreciated!

Re: Model D with PM3 monitor not working
Sounds like a problem with the tach pick-up which is mounted near the flywheel or the tach pick-up input circuit on the PM3.
Ideally plug your PM3 into another Model D and you will find out which one it is.
What is the date code or serial number or firmware version on your PM3 ?
Use More Options>Utilities>Product ID to find the information.

Re: Model D with PM3 monitor not working
You have the pre August 2008 version of the PM3 with the Motorola Dragon Ball micro so the latest firmware you should have is V105.

I would not expect the latest firmware to solve your problem, but that's about all you can try.
Unfortunatley this earlier version of the PM3 is not the most reliable of the two versions.

Re: Model D with PM3 monitor not working
Is there anything else I can do to it now, as I am participating in the March Madness Challenge and if I were to miss several days in a row, it will be harder when my season starts?
Re: Model D with PM3 monitor not working
I would suggest the following things you can do to figure out the problem (in no particular order):
1) go to the Product ID page and make sure it's set for the type of rower you have (Model A, B/C, or D/E).
2) try the monitor on another rower, or a monitor from another rower. You may find that the 'generator' or 'pickup wire' is broken. This is a likely cause of "no row" situations and less expensive to replace than the monitor.
3) open the monitor again and look at the connector where the 'tach' wire goes in. Does it look ok or broken? does the connector 'snap' in place when you insert it?
4) contact the Tech Support team at Concept2. In the USA, call 800-245-5676.
