I'm on an extended business trip (3 more weeks), and I'm annoyed at the local gym for their lack of C2 maintenance. Since I'm not actually a member (the hotel is), it's kind of reducing my leverage to get them to fix up their machines.
They own 4: a B, 2 Cs, and a D. Nobody ever uses the B (I use my LogCard, so I don't use it either), the D has a flaky monitor (resets itself when moving the monitor sometimes, and has a busted USB connection), both Bs have loose shock cords, one B has a bad chain (stiff link on the rust-coated thing), the other has a busted HRM connector.
I wrote up a punch list for them, and what do they do? Tighten the shock cord on the D, which wasn't loose. These parts are all cheap, (as far as fitness equipment parts go) and easy to install. Maybe they have no money left after buying a dozen new Precor treadmills, 18 ellipticals, and a complete set of new weight machines. I guess they didn't realize that for under $400 in parts, all three rowers could be as good as new.
Grrr...
I'm thinking paying a visit to the manager today. Even if they don't fix them before I go home, it would be a service to their members and to those poor, neglected, rowers.
Looking forward to getting back on my pristine C2 D at home,
SirWired
