log card utility update

Post by Bob S. » June 18th, 2009, 5:26 pm

It has been several weeks since I previously entered data from my log card to the computer. I was away on my long walk for a month, and when I got back, I wasn't doing any significant workouts so I just let the data accumulate on the card. Today, I started in the usual way to transfer the recent data to a spreadsheet, but when I opened the log card utility, I got a notice that there had been an update and the dialogue box gave the directions for doing it. O.K., I figured that I would play their silly game, since it said that it would correct some errors and presumably make some improvements.

To make it easy, I selected and copied the URL given for this, something about Concept2 and utility and then I tried to shut down the dialogue box and/or the log card utility app. as the directions instructed me to do. Uh-Uh - nothing worked. Both the dialogue box and the log card utility window just sat there staring at me. I finally resorted to doing a force quit and after telling the Mac that , yes, I really did want to force quit, they both disappeared and I went on to log onto the URL that I had copied.

No go. Safari told me that that page was not available. O.K., try just plain old Concept2.com and look for utility update. No way. I didn't see anything on the C2 site that resembled what I thought I was looking for.

Well, the URL copy should still be in the computer, so I went to word to paste it in to read it. Word told me that it didn't have enough memory for such a large file. How the hell long is a URL - 20-30 characters??? Not enough memory??

I finally gave up, shut everything down and rebooted. When I opened the log card utility it was back to normal without the new dialogue box, so I just did my usual spreadsheet routine and let it go at that.

Any ideas, suggestions, or comments?
