PM3 Heart Rate Monitoring

I'm thinking about buying the heart rate receiver for the PM3. I already have a Polar transmitter belt. I remember reading in a previous post that heart rate is not updated continuously on the PM3 like it is on a watch monitor, but only at certain intervals. Unfortunately, I can't find the previous post. Would someone care to repeat? - Thanks!

HR appears on the PM3 display continuously.

But, it's only recorded as part of the workout data (in PM3 memory or on your LogCard) as the instantaneous value at the end of each split. (Which may be less than useful.)

I use the Polar belt on my PM3. It is very useful in real time as you are rowing, to control your target range.
