Shockcord too tight??

Post by northstar » February 27th, 2009, 9:23 am

Forgive my limited technical knowledge. Is it possible for the shockcord to be too tight and if so can anyone quantify/describe how tight it should be?
thanks!

It is possible to overtighten the shock cord. The shock cords function is simply to return the handle (and chain) to the catch position. Typically this requires about 4-6 pounds of force at the catch. Any more force than that is unnecessary and could wear the shock cord out prematurely. C2JonW
