Shock Cord - Merely Tighten or Replace
We have a Model C purchased years ago that sat dormant until my wife took up rowing a couple of years ago (cardio - Dr's orders). She is now addicted to her early AM rowing and logs 30+ mins 5-6 days per week. I am logging a measly 2500 meters a day but am enjoying it (resurfaced hip so I am taking it gradually). I have never tightened the shock cord but another thread led me to a maintenance PDF that indicated that at the 250 hour mark I should tighten the cord. My question is this - is the cord likely still in good shape after over 1.5 million meters of rowing where I can just tighten it or should I consider replacing the cord all together? It seems like there is still adequate tension on the cord (the handles don't droop) but I want to make certain that we are not "compromising" our workouts with a slack shock cord. Any advise appreciated! Andy

If it's isn't frayed, has still got lots of bounce and the handle returns normally then it should be OK. Slack in the shock card isn't measured by the monitor.
If there's any signs of wear then tighten it for now until your delivery arrives from Morrisville, VT.
1.5 million isn't a lot of mileage, when you compare it to the thrashing a machine in a public gym gets.

Around 20-24 million meters on my modelB, the handle wasn't going back up close to the cage.
In fact it was 5 or 6 inches from the cage and this was starting to interfere with the catch.
I adjusted the cord to go back up to the cage, which was easy to do.
Then I replaced the cord with a new one, which turned out to be way too tight.
The old broken in cord was much smoother, and I liked it better than the new one.

Thanks
Thanks for the info./experiences. I think that I will sit tight until I notice any slack or anything out of the ordinary. Thanks again. Andy
