i don't have a death grip on the handle - a very light grip actually. My mistake was to get in the habit of wearing sailing gloves while erging.. and the callouses have been building up where the fingertip-less gloves bunch up..
from all my daily erging i'm starting to get quite big callouses building up on my fingers .. and they are pretty annoying. Are there any tips for getting rid of them? some magic solution to soak in for example? Or just break out the stanley knife?

well my goal right now is to loose weight, so my understanding was that i should be keeping my HR lower.. in the 'LS' range on RowPro? It says for me that's 109-136 .. so I usually try to sit there around 130-136 ... 18spm ... 30mins... 2.20-2.25

today i did my first 60min piece... avg HR...

i used to go to the 'Danske Studenter Roklub' .. i forget the exact location but it's on the S-TOG line (that's the metro train) ... they've got a decent gym & plenty of ergs... cheap too.. (well this was 10 yrs ago)...
then there's the Bagsverd rowing club further north where all the serious r...

yeah that sounds about right - i'm just not very good at describing it in words..
maybe it's not really the cause of blisters but i still think the idea of 'spring-loaded' grips is an interesting one....

When I'm sculling, the handle is completely rotation free on the dr...

yes well thats the 60,000 dollar question i suppose...

when you're at the catch you have the blade in the water and hence there is natural resistance to rotation.. so you can do a solid pull ... so maybe some sort of spring-loaded grips would be needed... ie they naturally spring back to...

i've got the upgraded erg handle, which is great but i think it could be better. I find that when rowing on an erg with a fixed handle, I get bad blisters... maybe because of my natural tendancy to feather the handle slightly during each stroke. Obviously as the handle is fixed, my fingers just tend...

if straps weren't required, you wouldn't find them in rowing boats. I can ride my bike with no hands but that doesn't mean its a good idea..
