I'm a lwt JR girl, but we do 6ks. My 6k split is 2:11, and my 2k is 2:01, so I'd say 8s sounds about right for a 5k. Especially if you're in better shape than I am

I was in the HS crowd at the Brighton Burn (I row for Brighton, we host it, got a really nice turnout this year!) as a lwt JR girl, I got a very unexpected PR there! I wasn't planning on really trying (it's a required race for us) but after coxing a teammate in the heat before me, I was so pumped! E...

New 2k PR last weekend at CRASH-B's, 8:08.3 down from 8:09.3. I started the season off with 8:16, I'm a junior lwt.

I'm really happy with my time, and I want to get another PR this weekend. I'm hoping by the time I graduate (I'm a sophomore in high school now) I can be sub-8

It seems that I'm developing a nasty habit of throwing up after a 2k. The first time it happened I had eaten plenty before the 2k and it wasn't too bad, it was a quick recovery. The second, at CRASH-B's, I hadn't eaten and it took much longer to recover afterwards, so I know that eating beforehand w...

It was my first 6k, so I guess it defaults as a PB. For me, anyways, finishing it was the real challenge!

27:37

Off to stretch some more...

Well, I broke my leg in January and had to sit out all winter season, but I'm back now!!! I'm off crutches completely, walking around with a slight limp, and starting physical therapy. I've gone to two ergging days and one land practice since, just enough for winter crew to end. I've got two weeks b...

gorow- I was off this whole week for break. Very nice, but too many people were away to hold winter crew practices. We get back on the water the last week of March, but it'll probably be more like mid-April, knowing the weather here.

I went to use my Model D this morning, and everything on it worked fine, until I went to create a new workout, a 250m sprint. As soon as I pressed that button from the main menue, the erg shut down, and began to restart. I let it go through with restarting, and it still had the same problem. Everyth...

By the end of 2005, I'd like to sit down and erg a half marathon. I'd rather it be by the end of the summer, but that's still sprint season and my coaches wouldn't like that I'd be thrilled to do a full marathon, but I'm not sure I can do that my first year of rowing.

Carole: I haven't been doing full stroke, so it doesn't really make too much of a difference to my legs what speed I go at.

I did my second 250 yesterday (still arms and back only) and brought it down to 1:07.7, almost a full second faster, which seems a lot to me. I kept it between a 2:1...

I'm not sure about the knees- although I had some minor knee/ankle problems with the impact from running, and rowing/ergging has never given me problems in either area.

As for back problems- the only way you can really get back problems from rowing/ergging is if you do it wrong. Make sure...
