Diesel....was wondering how you determined that "Nothing shapes you up faster than the combo of rowing and lifting."?

Not critical, just curious. In terms of the cardio, why rowing as opposed to running, biking, cross country sking, etc?

I use Ultima Replenisher...no sugar..just stevia..tastes iffy. Also use GU, small amount of sugar. I mostly use these while biking 1+ hrs...never for rowing..usually 30-60min for me.

Prairefire..thanks ...I sent you a PM. I am assuming you are a Dr? Anyway I also wanted to ask you if you have seen both short term and long term success from this arthroscopic SLAP procedure? I have read feedback on other forums in which patients feel good like a year after. I am worried that by "c...

I had it soon after taking up squash. I really had little conditioning with raquet sports. I jumped in to the sport at a high intensity, unneccesarily gripping the raquet hard.,...little technique. I soon moved and did not have access to a court, so I did not play for a year, and pain disappeared 10...

I have had chronic shoulder pain since a football tackle (American) 20 years ago. I do alot of swimming, weight lifting which aggrevate the condition. Not sure if rowing helps of adds to pain. Anyway, had MRI, came back negative, but i went to a well known shoulder arthroscopic surgeon, and he says ...

I had extensive cardiac screening due to my family history and genetic high cholesterol after I complained of chest discomfort after excercise. I had echocardiagram, EKG, x-rays, Holtor monitor, and Nuclear stress test. My insurance paid for this due to family/self cardiac issues. I am sure it cost ...

As MichaelB pointed out, somtimes our posture while sitting, standing, working adds to the pain. I too found that my arm/shoulder position while using the mouse caused more pain. I tend to roll my shoulder forward while using the mouse.

I have had left shoulder pain for 20 years after an untreated sports injury. In 1998 it was diagnosed as "impingement". I got a cortisone shot, and the major pain went away, but since then I have always re-aggrevated it with certain shoulder movements. This year I have been very active rowing and su...

Was wondering what others out there think of sports drinks/gel use during training. Although I erg, I never go longer than an hour so I do not use. However, I also bike 50-100 miles a week. I have not been using anything for 20 miles or under, but usually bring some GU/Gatorade/Accelerade drink/gels...

I know a hand full of older people who have needed hip replacements. Some of them were physically active, runners, rowers, skiers, bikers, etc.

Was wondering if to much stress on the hip joint from excercise can result in the necessity of replacement surgery....

If so, what sho...

The meatheads on roids attempting to erg stories should have a thread of its own...however, I actually feel bad for those trying to use the erg for fitness but have terrible form, like gym newbies, and older individuals. My 15 years of club use clearly has shown that trainers/instructors have no ide...
