The ratio that you all speak of. Am I right when saying that a 33% ratio would mean that for a stroke time of 1.0 sec. Drive would equal 0.33sec, and recovery 0.66sec?

And Ive heard a few different figures quoted for what it should be. Is there a standard to go by?

How does a person...

I new to rowing too(3 weeks) and by no means an expert, but Id say you ought to be able to get higher SPI than 11SPI. The best Ive done is 17SPI. Im 32 kilos smaller than you so the only thing I can conclude is that your just not throwing enough oomph. Your using low deflection so the beginning of t...

I mailed paul about the chart, itll save me a lot of time. Last night I rowed a little piece at 252.2W. It was at the same pace that I should have had to pull a 280W to get. Problem is Im workin slower than the 1:55 agreement point between the pm1 and 2+. Pace prediction says 170.2W for a 2:07.2, bu...

The Model B I use has a PM1.

Do I need to go by the wattage that it gives me(178.1W) or the meters it tells me (7075m) in determining my pace? Using the meters yields 7075m for 30min(2:07.1). Using the Wattage yields 7200m(2:05.0).

I just want a way to moniter my average pace, the mon...

So what your saying is that i need to build my own table by doing pieces at a wattage and then plotting the W vs. Pace? The chart on the website is just wrong right?

Last night I rowed 30minutes at 178.1W according to the moniter. Changing the units said 7075m. The pace conversion for 178.1W is around 2:05 whereas the pace I actually rowed was 2:07.1. Any Ideas?

The 500m was only the example I used. I am referring to any distance. Another example 2k in 7:20. Suppose you can hold 1:50 pace for 4 minutes in the first session, then just try to increase the time each time you go at that particular pace until you can hold it for 7:20.

Have any of you tried setting a particular wattage/pace for a particular piece example: 500m in 1:30 (target=480W for 90sec). Then row at the target pace for as long as you can, until you can row that pace for the desired time?

Does anybody know how exactly the C2 calculates the spm? Since it displays spm after every stroke it leads me to believe that it only goes by the amount of time that the wheel is under an accelerating force, but the moniter would have to somehow take into account the time of recovery.

Thanks

And by comfortable I was refering to what I did my last 5k at. Is it resonable to assume that the rowing must be at a more comfortable pace for 5k than for 500m or 1k? If that wasn't the case then 5k pace would match sprint pace.

Your right about the pausing, there is a slight pause at the end of the drive before starting recovery when I row at 18spm, I thought that was how your suppose to do a slow rating row. However, there is no pause(consciously) at 25 spm.
Comfort zone and hard zone arent seperated by much, as my spl...

My Comfortable rowing stroke is 18spm at 2:05/500m(13.22m/stroke). My best 2k was set at 25spm at 1:57.5/500m(10.25m/stroke). My questions is how will following a 10m/stroke ratio plan help me. Will it allow me to carry 10m/stroke at say 35 spm? Max spm right now is 28.

Thanks

Tonite I dropped my 500m time from 146.7 to 140.8 at 28spm. Was going 1:30 til the last 150m when I started my sprint(dont know how I had anything in me). With a mighty leg drive to start the sprint, I flew off the blasted machine. After having to let go of the handle to get back on without unstrapp...
