Rich rowed heavy weight, but probably not much over, maybe 167 or so. He said he's been concentrating on his rowing rather than on his weight, hoping to do well in Boston. I watched part of his race - he was holding 1:38 most of the way, and then a fast finish at the end to dip under 6:30. He said h...

I had the same problem at the Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints, for the second year in a row (my bad luck), and I heard other rowers complain as well. I think that showing the elapsed time instead of the average pace cost me almost 2 seconds, as my average ended up being 1:39.4 instead of the 1:39.0 I was a...

I found the Toronto race results online, and he had another DNF. Maybe he'll row with me in Baltimore next weekend - he's scheduled to be in the race right before mine. I'd like to see a world record to get me pumped up!<br /><br /><a href='http://www.cdn-indoor-rowing.com/results2006.html' target='...

Maybe I'm reading things wrong, but out of curiosity I checked the C2 online rankings, and there's a *very* fast time posted by Dwayne Adams today...

Ranger - you might have the same injury I had: rib pain on the side, maybe six inches underneath the armpit. It hurt to row, it hurt to open heavy doors, it hurt to sleep on that side, it hurt to cough, etc. If so, the bad news is that it was 3 months before I could row again, and then only real slo...

USIR Dev Squad: Training
I enjoy reading about these good results and imagine what everyone's been experiencing. Unfortunately I'm watching from the sidelines now, as shortly after the 24 spm test my ribs started to hurt quite a bit, and I haven't been on the erg since then. For a while I couldn't even open a door or lift a...

USIR Dev Squad: Training
I was on vacation last week also, so I did my test tonight. I figured I would be somewhere between 1:46 (about as fast as I can pull 24 spm and what I've been doing the 1:30 on 0:30 off workout at) and 1:48. After about 8 minutes I was sitting at 1:46.4, but then fatigue settled in and I saw 1:47 th...

USIR Dev Squad: Training
Has anyone been following the suggested workouts? If so, how easy or difficult have they been for you? I expected the first three workouts to get progressively harder, but actually they've been easier, at least for me.<br /><br />3 x 20min. This is similar to what I've been doing about twice a week,...

USIR Dev Squad: Introductions
It looks like I'm the third member of the 40-49 lightweights, though not as fast as Robert or Mike. I won't be "cruising" through a 2K in 6:29.3 anytime soon, that's for sure. Last year I got down to just below 6:34, and this year I hope to reach 6:32, hopefully 6:30, but I may just not have enough ...

I just saw this thread and thought I would offer my thoughts, basically a reiteration of what's already been said (sorry if I repeat someone - I haven't read all the posts). This year I'll be racing in the 40-49 lightweights category, and though I may not break the top 3 in any event I should get cl...

Thanks for choosing 1:47 pace, Thomas. We were 1 to 3 meters apart most of the race, until near the end when I tired a bit and you kept on rowing strong. I was hoping to row below 1:47 in the last 10 minutes, but that just wasn't happening today. I'm still happy with my PB of 8410 meters - that's pr...

Some of us want to test our 2000 meter times (as foolish as it sounds), so I created a 2K race on e-row for next weekend at 1900 GMT. I picked Saturday rather than Sunday because Friday is a better rest day - hopefully that works out for most. Look for Last_Day_Of_Winter_2K on the e-row race server....

It was another one of those "full of energy" days for me, and I don't think the green tea and sports drink can explain it all. That was a fun row - I was getting stronger and stronger by the minute. The only drawback is that my stroke rate crept up from 22 at the start to 27 in the last 2K. Cees wou...
