Useful tidbit to speed recovery and avoid pain; do not lift anything (no matter how light) overhead. Have had this type of injury before and physicians & chiropractors gave that advice. Good idea.

Thank you to everyone who replied with lots of excellent bits...I was not using a log card (that would have been way easy!), and this is a boatclub erg - so I will check the software version & see if no one minds letting me download the most current version & putting the monitor back in place and ch...

Yesterday, in the middle of an 8x4' TR workout programmed in as intervals by time, the PM3 went blank at the end of the 4th piece. After a few seconds of shock, I hit the menu back button and got the "choose language" then "set date" screens. Trying to open the memory screen gave me a big zero; ever...

No junk meters needed. I discussed the Holiday Challenge with several other rowers at the boatclub. The general concensus was that anyone following their usual training program would easily reach the 200K target. The only really slow meters I've done during the challenge have been 20 min pieces I've...

Agreeing with Rick Bayko, the paragraph defining the training bands seems to have a couple typos in defining the TR band (otherwise the paragraph contradicts itself from one sentence to the next). I asked about the TR training band on the UK forum a couple weeks ago and received a few replies that t...

First day of the Holiday Challenge ! I've completed every HC so far, always by doing my regular training to prepare for the winter 2K erg races. Just curious as to how others rack up the 200000 meters.

RE the "bowside/strokeside", look the German terms for the sides, "stuerboard" and "backboard" (spelling is wrong, I know) - both sound like starboard side considering the American and UK terms. Ha!

I had bursitis in my hip, severe case, as the result of a bicycl/auto accident (I was on the bike end). The bursitis took a surprisingly long time to clear up; 8+ months. As a water rower, I found it painful to row in certain boats (keep in mind that boat seats have holes cut in both "cheek areas") ...

I've had fairly good experiences with chiropractic treatments relieving neck & shoulder, back ribcage and hip pains at various times. Neck and shoulder pains were generally relieved in one treatment, with only a slight dull pain remaining for a day after. Quite a contrast to the sharp pains and rest...

One useful bit of advice I received from my doctor was to avoid any overhead lifting (no matter how slight) while the strain heals. Putting arms overhead stretches out the ribcage and the intercostal fibers.

I've experienced this problem on several occasions over the years, having always mana...
