jbell,
I didn't really fly and die, but my 3rd 500 left something to be desired, it was around 148-149 I believe. However, my last 500 was probably around 142, 143, so not so bad. I also had a decent warmup before, about 10 minutes of erging and some stretching, but when I 2k next at practice,...

I'd just like to give a thank you to Jim Barry. Thanks to his advice on my summer training, I was able to drop 24 seconds off my time 2k time, increase my endurance to a half marathon, and lose almost 20 lbs, all over the summer. Now I'm no longer at the bottom of my team, I'm nearing 1 million mete...

Highschool OTW Rower here. I've raced in a 2x, 4x, 4-, and 8+. There is nothing, nothing, like the feeling of that absolute perfection in any of those boats, when your stroke, balance, and power application are as placid as the surrounding calm plane of water.

John,

If you were to ever row on the water you would quickly find out that the indoor rowing machine is not quite analagous to a shell. There are so many other factors that just aren't present inside, on a balanced surface, on a rowing machine. I would implore you to experience water row...

John, Have you ever rowed on the water? I think you need to understand the idea of check that is caused by a fast recovery and a long drive. What you want is ratio, something around the lines of two to one on the recovery to drive time. Before you talk about water rowing, gain some experience...

Seems to me like your do for some new 5k and 6k PBs with a 2:00.4 on your 12k, which it seems wasn't your "maximal effort" and only a 1:55.1 on your 5k and 6k.
