Model C seat and rail issues?

I have a 2003 model "C" Concept 2. When it arrived I ordered and changed the seat rollers as after each row I had lots of black rubbish where the rollers ran and the seat wobbled like mad. The old rollers seemed fine but 3 of the 4 bearings inside were well past their prime as bearings. All was fine...

Re: Noob, am I overdoing it? How to mix it up

Another view.....bin it if you want. I started back rowing 6th February 2025 after a 10 year lay off of any sort of exercise. I need to lose weight, do some exercise and help by type 2 diabetes.... Set myself a goal of rowing every day for 30 days, whether than was 10 minutes or more. I spent time w...

Re: Found concept2 on the fb market, need help in assesing

Walk away and find a better machine.

You're buying a whole host of issues and unless its free (I doubt it is) its not worth the money.

Re: How do you focus?

I am only rowing for 30 minutes so why make it complicated. That's the best advice you can take heed of. Just enjoy it and don't worry. I mulled over what every body said. Some was tough to take onboard but when I just thought about why I was rowing and what I wanted the whole data/training/focus j...

Re: How do you focus?

Thanks for all the input into my question. I looked at my force curve and its a very low flat curve. Its not great so the internet says. See Travis Gardner on youtube 'power curve 101 for the concept 2 rower.' My curve is the first red one he draws. On a normal row I am at about 3 watts per stroke a...

Re: How do you focus?

My surgery want me to be 72kgs!!!! I haven't been that since I was in my 20's. 85/90 kgs or 14 to 15 stone was my riding weight 10 years ago.[...] Food wise I have less than 2000 calories a day. Re: How do you focus?

I think Sasha said it best. Just put the least amount of data on the Erg Data screen and row. Any gadget (HR Monitor, Watch etc.) or data that doesn’t add to your enjoyment of rowing get rid of it. It’s not necessary. I like watching hr because it makes the row more interesting to me. Certainly not...

Re: How do you focus?

Please remember I am only rowing to raise my heart rate for 30 minutes a day to help with general health and lose weight. That may be why you started but it sounds like you've caught the bug a little. If that statement was still true then the only data you need is your HR. Get it up to the value yo...

Re: How do you focus?

At the end of every row I take a photo of the PM5. I could post a few pictures but my knowledge of this website and posting pictures online don't seem to coincide to do it. 27th Feb 2025. 7012 meters in 36 minutes and 48 seconds. 2.37.5/500 meter average. 22 s/m ave This was just with a PM5 and pola...

Re: How do you focus?

I use the force curve as my goto metric - and the top screen with average pace. My smartphone I have average watts and some duplicates - but the watts are the only thing I look at on that one normally. i find it helps if I have a plan for the row before I start - whether that's a just row, and "ove...

Re: How do you focus?

For being a month into rowing, even if you had consistent, good training in that month holding 2:10/500m for 5-10 minutes is not bad. Especially for your age. It's even more impressive if you managed it despite piss poor technique and old injuries. Dont get me wrong, I am done I I keep that pace up...

How do you focus?

OK. As a 'newbie' to training in the modern age, I am struggling. Way back in the 1990's all we had was the PM2 on the rower to see time, distance and time/500 meters and watts. We didnt have heart rate monitors or smart watches. You just jumped on the rower and rowed. Kept at what felt good and tha...

Re: Model C chain and sprocket change....

Yes, the machine is worth it but do you really need to replace the chain? If it is just seized you can probably loosen it by oiling and wiggling. Maybe work up a jig so you can soak it in mineral spirits first. A wire through the chain can be tied to the guide to keep it extended for this purpose. ...

Model C chain and sprocket change....

Having assessed the rower I have 1 link that is a little tight. It does not effect the machine at the moment when rowing. I am told by concept 2 that I need a chain and sprocket kit (1915 i think) as the original sprocket if different. They also suggest I need to change the sprocket shaft at the sam...

Re: Old man coming back to Indoor rowing.

OK. Looking at the Concept 2 app on the phone, Log book shows my row for the 24.2.25. Time:- 30 minutes. Distance 5903 meters Average pace 2.32.9/500m Splits are all in the 2.32-2.33 per 5 minutes. Ave stroke 20 Ave power 98 watt Drag 133 Is that poor? Sorry, I really do not understand what the data...
