Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Came down with some upper respiratory infection, with symptoms below the neck for some days. Tried to row anyways. Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Week 9 - 9000m 2:25.0 average split, but HR max drifted to 172, when I started at barely below 160 (my approximate UT2 limit) then 4*1500m, average 2:03.2, started at ~2:03.8 average, r24, ended up at 2:02.2 average, r24. My injury set me back somewhat, but hey. I can come back. Then week 9, day 3, ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Yes should be honest with myself. The rating was 47 for the 426W What I meant is that at the drive the handle should be moving at the same time as my legs. But my core collapses. Thus in the start my legs started going before the handle. Sorry for my unclear wording. Kudos for acknowledging it - no...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
The maximum power you can sustain for 10 strokes in a row (10 strokes in a row max). In my university they do this at rate 20. Got it to 1:55 r20 which isn’t good. The team does at least low 1:40s on it at r20. To be fair my legs did move first and a lot of my power leaked to the ground not in the ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
What is this? 10 big power strokes as strong as you can. Crazy. I tried a 9000m with a max power 10 at r20 and only held around 1:55 *facepalm* My connection with the rower is next to nothing- even collapsing at the front. No wonder when I tried holding 2:15 r20 at the end my HR shot up to 180s htt...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Did cycling 1h quite hard today. 30.4km/h, 167W, 87 average cadence. So FTP of at least 167 with some to spare. >2.5W/kg. Not bad. My uni’s rowing team cross trains too and at least I can keep up with their cycling cardio. Ankle’s still a bit injured but oh well. Gotta ease back. 6 months can fly li...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Sprained my ankle a little. But it forced me off the erg. At least I tried z2 cycling at ~100W. Technogym skillbike. Somehow I need to slow to 20km/h to stay at zone 2 with gear 5 and 1% incline (trying to simulate real cycling). Held my HR at around 130. But yes, cycling =/= rowing. Until my ankle ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Week 8 Day 3. Decided to do 8500m instead of 8000m but oh well.
2:25.0 average split, r19. Max HR = 167, avg HR 157. Not much change. But I at least got the stroke rate slightly higher.
These steady states will take a long time to improve but it is what it is…

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Bare minimum. 90kg * 11 deadlifts more lat pulldowns, OHP. Not much else. Hey. 1 rep gain is decent per week. Every little bit of strength gain takes a lot.
Beginning to put more core work.

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Attempted 4*1500m 3R at R24 and tried going sub 2:00, but after the 1st interval average 2:00.4 I realized I wasn’t getting it 2:02.7 2nd at R23. But somehow I felt too bloated. Drank too much water too quickly before the intervals. Facepalm It happens. Next time I’ll repeat this and try to hold 2:02…

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Finally managed a PB for something slightly over 5k. Not a great PB (2:08.4 avg r20 split) but a decent stepping stone. 5253m in 22:30 at r20 average. https://log.concept2.com/profile/2501432/log/99229919 Even though I almost gave up in the end - any tips on finishing the final bit? I can get throug...

Re: Thanks Once Again!
I would say keep base building until Aug/September, then starting from Sep/October do more sprints/intervals, etc., so focus more on steady state. Right now, you probably have a sub 7:45 2k in you considering your last interval session. My schedule for this week is this - Sun rest, Mon test piece, T...
