Re: 2024 is winding down, 2025 is upon us - how did your year go?
My wife and I are in our mid 50's and just started rowing in October this year and bought an erg about the same time. I am coming from a cycling background, so decent aerobic fitness but humbled by the skill required on the water and the technique on the ERG. Took it slow on the erg to avoid injury ...

Re: Father Time?
80% of training at 2.07/ 2.08 500m splits UT2 anywhere between 10 and 15k 20% of training at 1.45 / 1.50 500m splits anaerobic threshold workouts . Supplemented with some weight training ……..I’d have to think it’s worth having a go. Has anyone had success adopting something like this? Thanks, Paul ...

Re: Father Time?
I'm a cyclist who just started dabbling with rowing/erg, but I assume the physiological aspects of aging vs. performance is going to be similar for most endurance-centric activities. Based on my personal experience (I'm 55) and what I've read, one of the biggest challenges as we age is finding the r...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Rowing was yesterday and is tomorrow morning, but had a belting ride on the gravel bike today, with my highest ever average power for a 2hr plus ride - 342w average for 2hrs 15m. Now if only I could put that out on the rower, I'd be doing a 2hr 22m marathon! Why is it that rowing wattage is lower t...

Re: Guidance for cyclist who's new to rowing/erg?
I've sculled since I was ten, but wouldn't risk sculling in a double with the wife. We're each in our own single, haven't even discussed the possibility of doubling up. Probably would be a bad idea, at least until we get some skills. We actually have a tandem bike that we'll ride sometimes, but onl...

Re: How to delete workouts on PM5 when not using usb?
...now I just need to figure out some connection issues w/ergdata on my wife's android phone. It's working fine on my iPhone. Bluetooth needs "location" permission to function on android (because any software that has bluetooth permission can discover your location.) Ergdata gets cranky if you let ...

Re: How to delete workouts on PM5 when not using usb?
To junk them, but keep all of mine(!), I use the USB drive trick. Stick in the USB and wait for it to be recognised and select USB logbook when prompted. Then Logbook utilities, then Move workout - which moves the workout off the PM5 and onto the USB Stick. I move all the workouts I [dont] want (on...

Re: Looking for used RowErg & BikeErg
I was never really looking for one and don't know much about them, but suspect they are way, way less common. I'm not saying it's a bad (or good) machine, just not the ubiquitous standard that the rowerg is. Good luck.

Re: Looking for used RowErg & BikeErg
I'm near Austin and was recently looking for a used Rowerg. Several model D's out there now on facebook and craigslist. There were a couple newer "RowErg" models posted a couple weeks ago, but it looks like they are gone now. If you are looking at one still under the 2 year warranty period that cove...

Re: Guidance for cyclist who's new to rowing/erg?
If the "beginner sculling course" was a short workshop instead of continuing training then see if you can find more coaching. It's not so critical if you are mainly going to erg, but if your goal is OTW rowing then you need a coach. The intro course was just 4 sessions, but it was enough to decide ...

How to delete workouts on PM5 when not using usb?
I just bought a used C2 rowerg and can't figure out how to delete the workout history on the machine. I looked at the PM5 manual and it shows how to delete workouts that are stored on a USB drive, but I didn't see a way to clear memory when not using a usb. I got set up on ergdate and logbook, so ma...

Re: Guidance for cyclist who's new to rowing/erg?
Thanks for the feedback. I'd also be careful of your ego dictating your decisions. Yeah, I think I'm good here. I always tell folks new to cycling that it's a process of months and often years (after you get the newbie gains). I got set up with ergdata and uploaded workouts to the logbook and strava...

Guidance for cyclist who's new to rowing/erg?
First post here, looking forward to being part of the community. My wife and I recently completed a beginner sculling course, so we're just at the start of the learning curve on the water (humbling for sure). We were introduced to the erg's at the club (all c2's) and decided to get an erg for the ho...
