Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
6.5. [6 x 500m / 2min rest] – These should feel quite short after those 800’s you did last week. Use your judgement for how fast to pace them, but beware going too fast on the early reps or you might meet Mr Lactic Acid, who you will become well acquainted with in the weeks to come. These felt much ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Friday and Saturday were rest days (in good part because I was nowhere near my rower). Have decided to listen to all the sage advice and am going to spend a few weeks off of this plan and using various videos to help with form and technique and try to get that down solid and get my shape out of the...

Re: Dark Horse Drag Factor Workout
We must be missing some details about this dark Horse workout. As described it does not seem to make much sense: e.g. I can generate much more watts with 32spm on damper setting 2 than with 16 spm on damper setting 10. Also the distance generated will not be comparable between a 10 minute row and a...

Re: Dark Horse Drag Factor Workout
... I've been erging for just a few months now, so definitely new. I also joined a local on the water rowing club and have gotten some very good coaching on stroke rate, form, etc. SUPER. OTW rowing is tons of fun and good coaching will greatly reduce any risk of back/wrist/etc. problems Do you use...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
Lost power from the storm. Nice being able to get in a workout w/ no power! 5.5 [2 x 10min / 2min rest] – Just aim for a similar pace to the last session. Target was 2.24.4 Heart rate was up a little bit since I didn't have a fan on me for this workout. Good UT1 effort. Onwards to week 6.... Time Me...

Re: Dark Horse Drag Factor Workout
How long have your been erging ("long time" "new to 6 months") How comfortable are you with your rowing form ("very", "i'm good I think", "not very") Do you use a heart rate monitor ("yes, strap", "yes watch", "no") Agree with Dangerscouse that whatever DF you normally use feels right. Other advice...

Re: Dark Horse Drag Factor Workout
I don't know the workout, but now being 2 1/2 years on the rower, I adjust the DF frequently based on my muscular fatigue of the day. If I feel strong and recovered, I like higher DF like ~120. Feeling a bit of fatigue from gym the other day, I also like to set DF to ~100. Both values are fine for ...

Re: Pondering the Beginner Pete Plan
5.4 [20min] – On these supplementary sessions judge by how you feel, and how hard you’ve worked on the other sessions. If you’re pretty tired still from the last session, but want to train, just concentrate on technique, and don’t worry about the pace. At this stage all technique work is good. If yo...

Re: Dark Horse Drag Factor Workout
I don't think there is a simple excercise that will result in your optimal DF. Humans are no robots, so you need to get accustomed to a certain DF and how it feels. So do a couple of sessions at a low drag and see how it feels. If you feel too light at the catch, increase the drag. If it feels too ...
