Re: Forum Flyers

Dudes! The women have done their part for the September CTC. We still need 2 lightweights and a heavyweight to fill out two boats.

Re: Open Water Rowing

Then it was reload the boats and off to an Italian restaurant for lunch. There was lots of good camaraderie and lots of rowing stories. I met a guy from my hometown who was 10 years younger than me, and we knew lots of the same families. It was a good row, but the 2 hour drive to the site and 2 hou...

Re: Monster the Loch!

Well done! Sounds like a Bucket List item. :D

Cam Buchan did it three years ago and posted an interesting 21-minute video of it. He should have used a bigger boat.

Re: Forum Flyers

As far as the women go - that definitely is no longer the stumbling block. Right now we have five women who have completed the challenge for September, but only 1 boat floating :-( . A reminder for the team that the Fall Team challenge starts tomorrow (Sunday) - be sure to sign up in your log book ...

(I have noticed over the years that most of the hard core on-water rowers around here that I see at the top of the regatta results don't do erg races. Hmmm?)
I'm infamous around the Community Rowing boathouse in Boston for being the only one in our crew who likes erg races.

Re: Bantam sculls

PaulG and I have C2 Bantams for our boats on the Merrimack River in Haverhill, MA. He for his Peinert Zehpyr and me for my Alden Star. Mine are three years old and his are about four years old and we both are fully satisfied with them. I'd used Aldens, Crokers, and some nameless oars before and like...

Re: 2025 USRA Indoor Nationals

Alexandria is a great ergatta. If there isn't a closer site for me I'd definitely go back to Alexandria rather than doing virtual.

Re: Gloves for grip?

let me second Cyclist2's observation about dipping your hands in the water. My crew captain suggested it, and then while watching a youtube video of Olympic Champion Mahe Drysdale getting ready to start the Head of the Charles Regatta he dipped his handle & hand into the water, first on one side the...

Re: Forum Flyers

Terrible news about Terry Dargan. His stellar erg scores over the years showed that he was doing his part to stay healthy. Such a shame that something beyond his control bring such a good man down.

Re: Open Water Boats for sale

Excellent! Have fun. You'll probably always want that Zephyr even if you progress to a racing shell. When my crew got a tour of the Resolute factory years ago the president told us that when he took over the company he had a Zephyr and thought that as president he should own a Resolute racing shell ...

Two boats off the dock as of this morning. Hey rookie, what did you do with Don Q. and Yankee runner? I did nothing with them, but someone/something did. One day my password didn't work, and all attempts to reset it failed. Even the link to report a problem came up with "disabled" when I clicked it...
