Hi, I've been rowing recreationaly for the past year mainly with the focus of losing weight, but now after achieving my goals I'm starting to get interested in the more competitive side of things. [edited to correct some egregious arithmetic errors] 220-age is largely a wive's tale. It doesn't predict the population mean (or median) particularly well, and it certainly doesn't predict individual max HR.
