Re: Lower s/m and exertion

You may be right on this topic, but there's other life ongoing, so I often combine my gym session with intervals at the end due to optimized time usage. It helps and is better than not doing them at all. Sure, if done in an individual session, the outcome and benefit would be higher, but planning o...

Re: Lower s/m and exertion

Welcome and to hopefully many years of successful training. My current rowing goal is to sustain 2:00/500m split for an hour. Why? Not only is that a quite ambitious goal, but why did you choose it? I am lifting four days a week and rowing for 30 minutes afterwards. (Lifting is my priority). Then yo...

Re: Looking to lose fat and gain muscle

No. I don't want to bulk up. I want to prevent loss of muscle and strength. Perhaps I was unclear. Most of the "hypertrophy" stuff is about how to get bulging muscles for aesthetic purposes. Nobody said anything about bulking up, which is unlikely, anyway. To prevent loss of muscle, you need to bui...

Re: Looking to lose fat and gain muscle

But I'm now convinced that I need to do resistance training to ward off the dreaded sarcopenia, and probably should've started long ago. It is unfortunate that most of the interweb advice is about "hypertrophy" which I don't give a damn about. Sarcopenia is the loss of muscle mass. Hypertrophy trai...

Re: Workouts not showing after upgrading to ios 18

Ergdata has (like many apps) not yet been updated to work with iOS 18.

That’s the risk of installing a first beta.

Re: Stretching, (Dynamic?) and Warmup

This has been greeted here with anger, ridicule, and insults, but no one has refuted the argument. I asked gvormac to present a refutation of my evolutionary explanation for these research results. He didn't. I ask the same of you. Of course, if you think my explanation has merit, then it would be ...

Re: Stretching, (Dynamic?) and Warmup

This is in all probability my last post on this issue, as I have better things to do with my time than arguing with Dunning-Kruger afflicted. Your pointless sarcasm and moving goalposts aside, where are the citations for your claims? Where is the research that comes to the same conclusions? I under...

Now you know, why I stopped arguing 😊
Yeah, you’re right. I just hope readers of this thread get the point that they shouldn’t base their decision whether to warm up on some "Because lions!" nonsense, for which the lone advocate has provided neither evidence nor respectable sources.

Re: Stretching, (Dynamic?) and Warmup

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging! But you just can’t help yourself, can you? Your deeply flawed "understanding" of evolution by natural selection doesn’t help anyone on this thread. Even your premise that "lions don’t warm up" shows that you don’t know enough about lions or warming up....

Re: Stretching, (Dynamic?) and Warmup

But you can't make a sweeping generalisation about all muscle groups being able to perform at their maximum from complete rest, based on ancient evolution. Why not? You accept that lions, based on evolution, do not need a warm-up before a chase. Many, many mammals have this ability - maximum perfor...
