I'm having the exact same problem. I checked the batteries - a multimeter showed the 1.5V batteries outputting 1.4V. So I tried some new ones which read at 1.6V - but the PM5 remains off. I have followed the above steps, but nothing appears on the PM5 screen. It's as if there's no power, but I've put new batteries in it and also tried connecting it to my laptop via USB cable. Any further advice appreciated.
