So not impressed. Ever time I try to enter I discover a new and strange requirement. The latest - weigh in, must at least 1hr before I race. This disqualified my time from today.
Coming back from an injury, I had an awful time - 8:28 for 2km. I thought I would at least post a time.

Re: Big Toe Joint Pain
Thanks - @Ombrax - I promise I don't expect a doctor. I've talked my Doctor about an earlier round of this problem and basically she ruled out the obvious stuff and then said something to the effect of "soft tissue, go see a physio". Physio's in Ontario aren't covered under OHIP and the one I use do...

Big Toe Joint Pain
In the past few weeks, I have suffered a series of problems with the big toe ball joint. Three weeks ago, I went from no problem to swelling overnight in my left foot. The swelling was centred around the big toe joint. I didn't row at all or walk much for three weeks. On Thursday, I rowed for 30 min...

Re: Stretching, (Dynamic?) and Warmup
Lions are mammals and so are we. If the argument is made that, 'Yeah but lions have evolved to spring explosively from rest to the chase', I would reply that surely evolution has also thus equipped humans. In our forest dwelling pre-history past humans also needed that capability to escape from sud...

Re: How to factor in non-Erg training
Thanks to all of my favourite responders for answering. FWIW This isn't about exclusively doing anything on the bike. I wondered about replacing the occasional longer rowing workout with a much longer bike ride. Context the previous week the day after a 50km ride, I simply couldn't push myself durin...

Re: How to factor in non-Erg training
Interesting comments all. However, I don't think anyone answered my original question. I just completed 70km of riding, I had time for a nice coffee along the way. It was a mix of Zone 3 (over 90 mins) and Zone 4 (last 40 minutes mostly on the final climb home). With respect to Erging would you just...

How to factor in non-Erg training
As the weather in Ottawa gets to be beautiful for a few brief months, I will spend more time outside. Most weekends I will either 10+ km hiking or 50+ km of bike. Would you replace a longer steady state workout with one of these? or just push it on a couple of days?

Erg Book, Wiki or Other source of summary information?
As I get deeper and deeper into rowing, I come here and ask questions. I get terrific answers from many people: @Ombrax, @Sakly, @contdrift86 @Jamesg @Dangercourse @p_b82 @JaapvanE @Iain — thanks I really do appreciate the help so far. What's missing, is that I don't understand the big picture. I've...

Re: Reducing my Stroke
Replying from my iPad at the end of running workshops. I’m brain dead and probably won’t respond to all comments tonight. I want to say, just how much I appreciate the support of the community here. This is a great place to ask questions. Feels much like the Agile/Scrum community did 25 yrs ago. I w...

Reducing my Stroke
In my last post, https://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=208610 - I realized I want to drop my stroke rate for longer distances. So here I am at the start of Pete's Plan Rd II. Today I aimed for 20s/m. (In fact I hit 19). When I drop my stroke rate to 20/m. I have two challenges: - How do you ke...

Re: After Pete's Plan (round I)?
Imo, you need to focus on every aspect you can think of. Low / mid / high stroke rates with combinations of pace. This is broadly covered by the Pete Plan, but it doesn't cover a 30r20 TT for instance, which is a great challenge. It took more than few minutes of googling to learn what that is. I gu...

Re: After Pete's Plan (round I)?
@contdrift86 Thanks - "The Pete Plan is a great plan to just roll through on a 3 week rotation" -- what are these 3 week rotations? Do I just do the last 3 weeks of the plan? I know it's focused on 2km times. For now that seems like fun. @winniewinser 2km test is coming up. FWIW I've been seeing 1.5...

After Pete's Plan (round I)?
I will soon finish my first pass through Pete’s Plan. I’ve taken 8 months to a 24 week plan :-). Sometimes finding 3 - 30-50 min workout slots in a week is hard. Also If I muffle a set, I rerow it. How do I evaluate my progress and learn what I should improve next? What do people do next? Do it agai...

Re: Hyperventilating on the last leg of Sprint Intervals?
@Jamesg - IP address - hardcore. Curiously that page doesn't work in that it won't accept my email address. Is that program the same as: https://www.concept2.co.uk/files/pdf/us/training/Training_Guide.pdf @KeithT 1) It's reassuring to hear this is normal. The problem with 0 rowing experience and kno...

Re: Hyperventilating on the last leg of Sprint Intervals?
It's the start of work day, I won't be able to reply in detail to all. Forgive not sure what details I should have supplied. Age 56. Physical condition - I'm active. I've been doing Pete's Plan for ~8 mths, even though I've only complete 20 weeks of it so far. (Some weeks, I just don't get 3 sets in...
