Re: Building my own PM
Great, it now displays meaningful numbers. Tomorrow I will workout to test the "feeling" of the new numbers. The only problem is that I don't have any original PM to test my own PM against. Here are some pictures, I still have to add buttons and several functions thou: https://i.postimg.cc/QF4dvXnY/...

Re: Building my own PM
Hello again after some time. Nomath, I took the graphs you requested. I recorded the time between pulses versus total time. Here you find 2 strokes and then a natural slowdown until rest. https://i.postimg.cc/1fyQFcFZ/drag-2-strokes.png Then I took the slowdown part to estimate the drag factor: http...

Re: Building my own PM
hello, thanks for your answers. It's an interesting topic. Here are the requested shapes of the signal sent out from the sensor. As I wrote earlier, my model B didn't come with any sensor or magnet. I added an inductive switch which detects the passage of the blades (8 per turn), see my older posts ...

Re: Building my own PM
What I still have doubts about is how to calculate the speed. I found this formula: u = ( k / c )^(1/3) ω (9.2) from here: http://eodg.atm.ox.ac.uk/user/dudhia/rowing/physics/ergometer.html#w but I cannot figure out what unit u has. I 'd like then to convert it to min/500m. The link above does not s...

Re: Building my own PM
hello again, more results using ESP8266 with CPU running at 80MHz. I have been working on the calculations of the drag factor. To do this I detect first the start of recovery phase and then I calculate the points (xi, yi) at each blade passage. xi is the time from the start of recovery, yi is the ti...

Re: Building my own PM
thanks for your answers, very interesting. I have to say one thing about my erg: it must be a model B produced on licence, not directly by Concept2. It just says "Rowning" on the bar below the seat, "Concept2" does not appear anywhere. Furthermore it came without any monitor nor magnets on the flywh...

Building my own PM
Hello, I recently bought a used model B for 100 euro. I had to change the chain and I added aftermarket flexfoot. The thing came without PM display, so I am building my onw. So far I succeeded in measuring the wheel speed (in Hertz), acceleration, max force per stroke, stroke per min and other stuff...
