Did a virtual race with the Fools Fest Sprints folks yesterday and managed to get under 40mins for the 10k for first time.

Re: Certificate for 1/2 & Full Marathon outside of challenges?
You can also request a pin for a full marathon.
This is a fixed design rather than being custom per year though. I requested one last month without checking the previous one I got sent, and they are identical! So a bit of a waste unless you lost the first one.

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.
Awesome effort! I have never attempted 100k and it scares me somewhat so not sure I ever will… Impressive mental strength. Only once did the FM on a whim, but intending to have another crack at that in December to claim a very soft PB :) I did complete another FM in December as part of the Holiday ...

Re: In Person international event lists..
It is a bit of a shame there isn't anywhere near the level of events for running/cycling. And those that do run always strike me as more serious than just rocking up at a random 10k or half marathon running event. The online ones are fun though. Did Row'd Royalty for the first time in 2024 and enjoy...

Re: Father Time?
There may be possibility of keeping the same or similar scores at the very short distances like 100m or 1 min but from 2k upwards you will be slower. I would have thought the opposite was true, but based more on experience of running than rowing. Older athletes can be pretty competitive still and t...

Re: Age categories, USRowing--again
That is a strange stance to just make a big "and the rest of you" group.
Late response, but i've also dropped your man an email to oppose the change. GL!

Re: Target pace for CrossFit WOD
Yes it did.
They just shout start/stop for each part on “just row” rather than programming it. So you quickly write down the total for each round during the 1min rest. Therefore it counts whatever freewheels into the rest breaks.

Re: Target pace for CrossFit WOD
Me: 5085m
Dad: 4231m
He did great, paced himself, and hit his strongest set in Round 5 to close.
Not convinced on CrossFit overall yet, but reckon I’ve converted him to the joys of erging! Wants to book a weekly session on my home machine

Re: Target pace for CrossFit WOD
I was enquiring about pace for me btw :) I can’t edit the workout, that is just what it is for as much distance as possible. My Dad has literally been on the rowerg once before so have suggested he just take it very steady as won’t have a good idea yet what effort he can maintain. As you say, more a...

Target pace for CrossFit WOD
Only just started a trial with my (pushing 70yo) Dad to coax him into more regular fitness. As it happens tomorrow is a dedicated rowerg session! Trying to work out what pace to be hitting for the below routine so that I don’t blow up come the final round or two: 20s row 40s rest 30s row 30s rest 40...

Re: Best seat pad?
A small towel, folded over. I have a small hand towel thing that was given out at a Tough Mudder running event about 10 years ago. Fits the C2 seat pretty perfectly and is prob as helpful for sweat soaking than comfort. Snapped a quick pic. Certainly not fancy but does the job. https://i.imgur.com/...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Double PB weekend
Sat: New 5k run PB at Parkrun (23:32)
Sun: New 5k row RB at FoolsFestSprints virtual race (19:11)
Doing them back to back prob suggests I should have room for more in both too.
