Re: Time Improvement
Thanks a lot for your response. I row with a team, and have 2 coaches, but the team usually trains 1-2 months before the season starts, and I don't feel like that's enough time to hit those goals, which is why I'll be training in the off season as well. I will keep your suggestions in mind, thanks a...

Time Improvement
I am 15 years old, and weigh in at 62 KG, 5'9 . I currently pull the following times on the machine: 1K : 3:40 2K : 7:42 5K : 20:15 There are two major rowing competitions a year in my area, one in November and one in January/February. My goal is to drop the 1K time to around 3:17, the 2K to around ...

Steady State and Pacing
2K is 7:42.5, Steady State at 30 mins row , 5 minutes rest is 2:16.1/500m at R22. 5k is around 20:50. Where am I underperforming and how to improve? (Height 5'9, Age 15 Years)
Re: 5K Pacing
I gave a 2k time trial today, and ended up getting a time of 7:42.5 at R26 avg. Does this mean I should target faster splits for 5k? As a rough guide, a 5k should be 2k + 6 secs That means I'm over performing at 5k. Or, significantly more likely, under performing at 2k  It might be that you're...

Re: 5K Pacing
No real reason for going slow on rate, I guess I'm just more used to it. Guess I need more conditioning to high rate, Its a sort of auto lock at 22/23
Re: 5K Pacing
Not exactly full, I went harder in the last 3k, had 2:08 splits for that portion of it
Re: 5K Pacing
I haven't attempted a full speed 5k yet, but got a 2:14.1 split on a 10,000m piece at Rate 20. If I'm giving a 5000m time trial, what should my target split be based off of this and the other times?
Re: 5K Pacing
Thank you everyone for your replies, I tried to do a 5k before reading this, I got a 20:50 avg with rate 23, i'll try to go faster on rate and see if that improves it
5K Pacing
I am 15 years old and weigh 60kg. My 500 time is around 1:38, my 1k is 3:46 and my 2k is a 7:52, at rate 27. At what rate and split should i be maintaining my 5K, and how much faster can I go in around 2 months?

Re: Seat Getting Stuck
so I tweaked around and the seat is not bothering me while rowing anymore, but it still doesn't slide independently and requires a little force, I think the bottom rollers are curved inward and scraping the rail. So I'll try and use it for a while and see if the problem increases, if it does ill jus...

Re: Seat Getting Stuck
would replacing the entire seat all together fix the issue? as its 50$ on the concept 2 store, and if a bracket or bearing is broken maybe replacing it all together might be easier

Re: Seat Getting Stuck
there's really little clearance between the rail and the rollers I'd say less than a a quarter of a cm, and even when not sitting on the machine, the seat gets stuck in this section. ive also noticed scratching on the monorail near the bottom rollers, could the clearance be an issue, and if I want t...
