Can you row with one leg, and what are the tricks to doing it right?
I tripped over a sidewalk grate that was sticking up in Manhattan on March 24th and fell down, banging my left knee. I'm slowly getting better and can walk OK, but rowing irritates my knee, and long walks, another exercise I do, also irritate my knee. But NOT rowing is very frustrating. So is there ...

Is there some way to hold a phone on a PM3?
I saw in a Concept 2 ad that the PM5 can have a "device holder" for a tablet. I'm happy with my PM3 and I wouldn't replace it just to get that, but is there some gadget on the market to hold a phone on my PM3? I'm not interested in watching TV or whatever people do with the device holder. I just wan...

PM3 Display Variations?
I'm visiting relatives in Boise, Idaho, and fortunately the local gym has a Model D like the one I have at home, or I'd be going nuts. (For my relatives "exercise" is taking a stroll around the neighborhood every couple of days). Like my machine, this one has a PM3, but with a curious difference fro...

Where do these black deposits come from and what can you do about them?
After a row, I often get deposits like these on the rail of my rower: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JcWEpHvBnnQc3pNSA I'm not sweating on the rower or dropping anything on there, and I clean them thoroughly off the rail and the top rollers with Dawn dishwashing liquid on a wet face cloth. But they keep ...

Re: Modification to Model D for Contact Lens Wearers
... (My drag is about 22 with the lever between 5 and 6). Hopefully thats a typo? 122 maybe? Otherwise your mod would make the machine almost unusable for people like me! Great if it works for you though. Right. 122. It wasn't exactly a typo, but an exhausted rower reading the screen carelessly. Mi...

Re: Older rower seeking opinion
Welcome to the forum, Paul. Unless you have a well-founded medical reason to not row at higher BPMs, the solution is to also do shorter, harder sessions. The Fox heart-rate formula (220 minus your age) is obsolete and gives too low a maximum heart rate. There are several better ones: Gulati formula...

Re: Modification to Model D for Contact Lens Wearers
Nice detective work. I used to wear contacts, but they gave me too much trouble, initially while cycling (dust), then overall, so I've gone back to just wearing glasses. Your eyes probably aren't as bad as mine. Contact lenses are a miracle for me. I'm so nearsighted that with my naked eyes, I lite...

Modification to Model D for Contact Lens Wearers
I've been using my Model D for about 11 months. Everything has been going great, but I've noticed a curious problem. I've worn contact lenses most of my life. (Without them, I'm so nearsighted I'm almost blind). And I noticed that during workouts, my eyes can dry out and I have to interrupt the work...

Re: Standing a Model D upright...
I've been standing my regular Model D up since I got it in January, and it's fine. I keep it in the corner of my bedroom and it takes up very little floor space. I suspect the instructions that you have to break it apart for storage were written by the lawyers. I'm a lawyer myself and I know how the...

Finding Maximum Heart Rate
I'd like to determine my actual maximum heart rate, because the estimates I see (220-your age, etc.) are totally inaccurate. I saw instructions in Runner's World magazine for doing this on a treadmill at a gym, but I don't run for cardo; I row on my Model D, and I have a Polar H9 heart-rate monitor....

Does anybody else here row naked?
I started rowing in January and now row several times a week for 30 minutes at a time. After experimenting with various clothes (briefs, boxers, compression shorts, and a dance belt), I found the most comfortable way to row at home is completely naked except for socks (to keep toe straps from irrita...

Do High Watts = Good Form?
I've been rowing about 7 months and I find myself mostly looking at the watts screen on my PM 3. I look at other screens (especially when rerowing), but I mostly focus on the watts became they're showing me in real time how much I'm working on each stroke. That seems to keep me more psyched than oth...

Re: C2 model D with pm4 vs rowerg with pm5 ?
Don't the updates equalize the menus? In a hotel gym I saw the old menu (app/hrm connection way different) but I was informed an update would fix that. I didn't do the hotel's update for them, though I've been known to repair other hotel C2s. Including but not limited to lubricating the chain with ...

What is a Model D/E?
Last week on vacation I was working out on a C2 at a gym there, and I noticed it was a Model "D/E." It looked identical to my Model D (and it had a PM3 performance monitor). Can anybody tell me what the differences are, if any?

Alternative covering for the Model D handle?
Today, on vacation, I worked out at a gym on a Life Fitness rower. I didn't like it at all compared to my Model D, with one exception. The handle of the Life Fitness rower has a slightly pebbled texture, and it was more pleasant to hold than the sticky feel I get with my Model D grip. (I use chalk o...
