Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Have been prepping myself mentally for the C2 May marathon challenge and finally had my head sorted today to approach the distance. At minimum sub 3 hour was the goal but was more significantly looking to cover the distance cleanly as my last marathon effort was 8 years ago and was ugly, poorly pace...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Half-marathon in 1:22:37.2 with a wattage average of 216. Had an off week on training consistency so thought I’d add some longer distance. I plan out all workouts based on wattage targets and aimed for a half-marathon at 212 watt average with a ramp across the piece if I was feeling good. https://lo...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

5k went faster today than expected hitting 18:12.3! Coming off longer pieces to cover the holiday challenge I approached the 5k test with a 250+ watt target but didn't have recent 5k test to better know what was possible. With 1k down and an average watts of 255 I kept upping the effort and looking...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Nice result with negative splitting 👌🏻 Sub 18 is near 😄 Negative splitting is my jam - my default c2 screen shows average watts and I nearly always eke out a negative split by patiently driving the average watts up on every interval / across intervals / every piece. For me, it trains mental toughne...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Hour of Power PB today! Initial plan was to average 228 watts (prior best this season was 220) so approached first 12' with that in mind. Found settling at 230 watts was comfy enough for the hour attempt. Stayed relaxed, and focused pacing tightly (look at the meters covered for the first 4 segment...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Not sure where the 81.69 kg came from but I’m lightweight @74kg / 164 pounds. From here: https://log.concept2.com/profile/700948/ But now it says 74Kg, I'm 200% sure it was saying 81.69Kg when I checked before posting  Weird @HornetMaX - you aren’t imaging things, it looks like ErgData had t...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Neg splits, never happened to me :) BTW, you're LW or HW ? I marked the answer for you 😇 Seen that but that's not what's in his profile on the logbook: the logbook session says LW too, but his profile says 81.69Kg so one of the two is wrong (likely the profile, probably more chances for people to f...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Somewhat frantic 10k today exploring pushing the pace though I’m in the middle of logging meters in pursuit of the 200k holiday challenge. Thought 222 watt average across the piece was good target initially. With 2k down upped goal to 230 watt average, then 240, then how about 245? Crushed it, just ...

Re: 8000m / 30min still (physically) possible?

Sorry to hear about your COVID result - listen to your body and take the rest you need. Shifting from 500 meter splits to wattage I’ve found to have a number of benefits, especially when chasing personal bests. What initially caused me to make the change was the need to tightly pace a piece to hit a...

Re: 8000m / 30min still (physically) possible?

I’m in an adjacent boat to you, @Bow, in that I’m a 47 year old former collegiate varsity lightweight (6’/183cm; 165lbs/75kg) who had last touched a 30’ 8K more than 8 years ago. I’ve maintained a functional baseline of fitness since then though hadn’t chased erg PB’s in almost a decade. Most years ...
