Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
2K time trial done 8:46.8
a little disappointed but I really do hate the long hard sprints. Started well, maintained pace actually very well. struggled a bit in the third quarter but finished the last 500 strong. was very very happy to be finished

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Ugh, so do a time trial sooner rather than later - got it. i'll try it this week. I hated racing 5k's, i just really don't enjoy hurting for that length of time :) i really enjoyed half marathons so much more, the longer sustained effort was much easier for me to bear rather than the short super fas...

Re: Beginnger swim question
Thank you for your response, and no - i was not offended in any way I did up my distance by an additional 500 yards this past weekend. I also reduced my breaststroke for two of my sets and increased my freestyle yards by 100 yds per set. It didn't feel hard. I'll keep going like this I think, but at...

Re: Beginnger swim question
Yeah, I don't think I'm setting any records! i think my overall pace seems so slow because of the breaststroke I'm doing. I actually don't feel to slow on the freestyle. but I could think about increasing my pace a bit. I've thought it would probably be better for me to reduce my breaststroke to 100...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Thank you for the drag factor explanation!! I have been working in intervals as well, I have done a set of 6 500m intervals with a three minute rest in between each one?? or a one minute rest, don't remember. I also have done a workout where i do intervals of 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min and then back...

Beginnger swim question
Just wondering if there are any swimmers on here. I injured myself running last fall (Oct 22) and was in a walking boot for two months. I was allowed to swim so starting in mid Nov I started to swim two times per week. I have been swimming twice per week since then. Currently I swim 2000 yds in abou...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Thank you both for your responses! It seems like a running analogy would be that ideally you want to run with a cadence around 180, but that you kind of find your number in that general area, my running cadence was a steady 172-176 and that felt good and comfortable to me. Stroke rate per minute see...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Okay guys, still learning and trying to figure things out. thank you for all of the responses about my feet/heels. very helpful! alot of you guys suggested lowering my stroke rate to 20-22 spm. i have completed two steady rows of 20 minutes each. I pulled 3500m the first row and 3950 the second, so ...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Thank you, so i need to connect the app to the rower first, and then do the work? I think that was my problem, i did the workout and then tried to connect the app and nothing happened. i manually added my workout to the logbook last night when i finally gave up. if i connect first then it will log t...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
So, some follow up questions. I have watched at length many youtube videos from Concept 2, Dark Horse Rowing and Tall something or other rowing videos. I've learned alot. My rower arrived and it is assembled :) i have created an account here on the forum page, also in the Concept 2 logbook page and ...

Re: Injured Runner, looking for advice
Thank you all so much! I am not currently in a boot, just got out of it, but it was a tibial stress fracture. I'm currently swimming three times a week for about 45 minutes. I really don't enjoy it, but trying to make myself like it :) I'm looking forward to the rower arriving, in the mean time, I'l...
