Re: Pete Plan Advice/Beginner Training for Young Adults

I appreciate all of the advice on goal setting, training routines, and aerobic training. I will certainly look further into it all and I will watch that video Tsnor. Thank you all for your help. It is greatly appreciated

Re: Pete Plan Advice/Beginner Training for Young Adults

After looking over all the feedback and looking over the Pete Plan, I believe I have a better idea of how to train. The steady state days should be relatively easy and yet somewhat based on my intervals and improvement, while the intervals should be challenging but not painfully so. Hopefully this a...

Re: Pete Plan Advice/Beginner Training for Young Adults

The reason I had to take 2 weeks off is because I had a cortisone shot in my elbow. I currently have a semi-diagnosed elbow issued that has been there for years, and the cortisone shot was an attempt to reveal more information about the nature of the injury. It does this by relieving pain (hopefully...

Re: Pete Plan Advice/Beginner Training for Young Adults

Thanks! That was my first logical conclusion, but I wasn't sure whether difficulty in sustaining the plan was a matter of lack of strength of mindset and desire or a physical deterioration. Knowing this, I will try a few cycles and see how it goes. Good to know that someone of that level has done it.

Pete Plan Advice/Beginner Training for Young Adults

Hey, All, To preface this, I have read on the Pete Plan on this forum and know there are specific discussions about it; however, the main ones I saw were slightly different advice than for my situation. This is not to say the advice is not already here, and if it is, I would more than appreciate a p...

Re: Flying Feet

Efficiency is the name of the game! Are there any drills you did specifically, or was it just slow form practice until you got it. Practice is all I can suggest. I also row 99% of my sessions unstrapped, and I'm relatively comfortable with 1:45 pace and r27; anything faster and higher gets a bit to...

Re: Flying Feet

3) Could my lean back be part of the problem? I have noticed I lean back farther than is ideal, and I imagine this extra moment at the top of my driver does not help the situation. Thanks for any advice! I was not able to find any super useful materials on this, but if you have any, I would even ap...

Re: Flying Feet

Did you ever get back to be able to drive with the same strength as straps? And thank you for your help! You lose a bit of stroke rate, but I gained a lot in efficiency. So wear you normally lose out a lot of energy due to explosive jumps and pulling yourself in, I am now more efficient. So my over...

Re: Flying Feet

I am struggling to understand what the problem is, am I not reading this correctly? Are you actually wearing your straps? If you are and are feeling backwards momentum still then I would say they are either too loose or you are not engaging your core to control your self whilst you are laying back ...

Re: Flying Feet

I had a similar problem, and I fixed it by lowering the strokes per minute and not attaching the straps at all. First strokes are a bit scary, but once you get the hang of it, it worked for me. Now I row 99% strapless, as it forces me to keep a decent technique and a powerfull stroke. Did you ever ...

Flying Feet

I am a new rower, and am currently struggling with my form, particularly with regards to leg drive and foot connection. My particular problem centers around the straps. When I drive, I find that at the top of the drive (not the catch), my feet will fly off the machine. This seems rather logical to m...

Re: Basic Rowing Technique/Training

Okay perhaps it is a machine error (the discrepancy in times) or the fact that I change my spm so much. When I do my long rows, I almost do this max pull thing, except it is less than max although still intense, my spm is low, and I do it for an hour. These pulls are almost a stop and start process ...

Re: Basic Rowing Technique/Training

I appreciate the feedback. I definitely will try to get back on the C2 as soon as possible; I do not expect my current machine to be entirely accurate and only hope that it is consistent so that, even if my times are inaccurate, they are accurate in relation to each other and therefore accurately sh...

Basic Rowing Technique/Training

Hello, all. I am a very new rower and am looking for some advice with regards to form and training it. To start off, I am 6 1, 210lbs. or 1.85m 95kg. and am 19. I would consider myself relatively athletic, but I initially started rowing a month ago because, after months off as a result of an injury,...
