Re: Chain recoil issue/no "bite" at catch
1-way clutch bearing in the flywheel ain’t “clutching”—delayed engagement with main shaft; flush out old lube grease and relube. Known issue which can be searched for details of flywheel removal and correction/freeing up of bearing operation. So it sounds like a removing and re-oiling is in the sch...

Chain recoil issue/no "bite" at catch
Hello, I know this is a pretty common issue but I haven't been able to find anything about this specific issue at this part of the stroke, so apologies if I'm making an unnecessary post. I have an older Model D from 2009 (PM3) that has been rowed extensively with well over 2 million meters on it. It...

Sorry to reawaken this thread, just wanted to put it out there.
Thanks again for the help.

Re: How to improve 2k time?
Hello, I am 14 years old and row around 6 times a week (3 indoor days 3 outdoor days). I usually do 3k or 5k for indoor training and my best 2k is at 8:15, however I feel like I can improve on that. Best 500 is 1:38 and best 1k is 3:45. Do you have any tips on improving the times and how to build u...

Re: High school female - erg question
Update: I did a 2k yesterday at World Indoors and got a PR of 7:59.6, hitting my goal of breaking eight minutes. My previous 2k was a 8:06.7 (12/20/2022) so it was a 7-second pr! I logged a lot of meters and lifted this winter which I think greatly helped, and I wouldn't have been able to do it if ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Yesterday at Worlds I PRed on 2k for a 7:59.6. I've been trying to hit eight for a while now and it felt so good to break 8 and see a 7 instead of an 8 on the erg screen. 30th out of 115 overall in U17 Women's and 6th in my heat. Clearly all the erging and lifting this winter has paid off, and based...

Re: Drag Factor at Worlds 2023
It seems common sense to me that it would be pre-set and standard based on each race category but I could be wrong. Why does that make sense to you? For On The Water qualification trials it is known to be predetermined sometimes, as a specific dragfactor simulates a specific boat type. But on a ind...

Drag Factor at Worlds 2023
Kind of a dumb question, but does anyone know if the drag factor is set at a standard for all competitors in an event?
Or do you get to set your own drag factor prior to competing?

Re: Using 7-stroke max to predict 2k time
Nothing predicts as well as doing one - and you did one a month ago at 2:01.5. Did you think that one well paced? Did you manage to stick to your race plan? That recent outing should tell you more about your current 2k potential than any predictor. If you paced it well (largely flat) then any impro...

Using 7-stroke max to predict 2k time
How does one go about using 7-stroke max to predict 2k time? I once saw something about how to do it, but can't seem to find it anymore. I'm trying to get a feel for what my 2k might be in advance of World Indoors. 2k: 8:06, 2:01.5/500m (12/20/2022) 7-stroke max watts: 367 (1/27/2022) 16 y/o female,...

Re: Hip flexor pain when rowing
I've only experienced this once in my erging life and it was extremly painful. Long story short, for me it was a need for tight footstraps and therefore a form issue. Do you rely on your footstraps? The background for mine was a large team assualt on the 100k world record for old fat blokes. We did...

Hip flexor pain when rowing
Hi everyone, I've been rowing competitively with a rowing club for almost a year now (16F, 5'10", 150lb), and for the past few months (the majority of fall season) I have had pain in my hip flexors whenever I row or erg. I've tried taping my hip flexor with kinesthesiology tape, advil, and taking a ...
