Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
Just an update. I did my 2k yesterday at a competition hosted by the rowing clubs in Utah. I pulled a 6:33.1, so I just missed my goal. Thanks for all your advice; it helped a lot. Awesome score and so close to your goal! I remember chasing 6:30 - it's a great goal to reach and I am sure you will g...

Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
Yeah, those terms have a specific effort. I'm just trying to match my running knowledge with the rowing terminology, that way I can find rowing workouts that match the intended intensity.

Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
Ok, I think I get what you're saying about UT1. UT1 is basically the same intensity as lactate threshold (the pace you can hold for a 1 hour race) for running, right? And AT would be roughly 6k rowing race pace?

Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
Thanks Elizabeth, I'll definitely use the speed workouts. James, I have a question about pace for UT1. Maybe it's because of my running background, but doing aerobic sessions at 1:47/500m seems fast, even with 6:30 fitness. My running mile pace /500 and 5k pace /500 are 12-13 seconds apart. 1:47 is ...

Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
I live in Utah, where there are a total of like 3 clubs. The closest is an hour away, but I did email that coach last week and am waiting for a response. In case she doesn't respond, I want to have a backup plan.

Re: Sub 6:30 2k by February
Thanks, I probably should have mentioned that I'm planning on doing 10-12 training sessions a week (morning and afternoon every day) split between lifting, rowing, and some running to maintain neuromuscular speed for track. As for a baseline, I just ran a 17:11 5k and 36:01 10k, but I'm not sure wha...

Sub 6:30 2k by February
Hi, I want to row a sub 6:30 2k in February, and I'm trying to get an idea of what to do for training. For a bit of background, I'm 6'6" and 170 lbs. I'm currently a senior in high school. I run cross-country and track. I started rowing on a concept 2 a year ago because I needed a break from running...
